Yeah I agree with all of this, McCann was unreal last night .

Just bugging you but I don't think hutton is better then Sbisa, not if Sbisa keeps on playing like he has this season.

- Pres.cup

Except Hutton had 6 shot and pizza 0....he (edit- he being sbisa) is better but not what we needed

Thanks Carol! Early for sure, even over here on the east coast!

Carried over from the last thread:

Well then you'd better get out and vote for anyone other than the conservatuves: both liberal and ndp are set to change the voting system from the first past the post to a more representative one, both saying before the next election. (Green too, but I mean...) http://www.theglobeandmai...e25051883/?service=mobile

Guarantee neither of them do it. It's gonna be a minority government anyway. If they want it, they can have it.

Yes we lacked finish and deserved the game but kudos to the Oilers. This is the kind of game the loose 8-1 in the past 5 yrs. Gotta get Vrbata out of the line up

Not to mention Henrik losing a board battle to Sekera which led to the winning goal. No way McCann loses that and doesn't hustle back. Henrik was floating back....

I can't believe Hansen is with the twins, so annoying seeing him out there with them.

I don't know why burrows wasn't there. Another branless attempt at coaching by Willie.

I agree but who knows what JB and WD are thinking

They're still paying him, aren't they?
- NewYorkNuck

To be fair, he's less overpaid at his current position then WD is.

Get Vrbata out of the line up? He was very good last night and just couldn't fill the net. You think he is the first guy to get snake bit?

But haven't been putting enough pucks in the net for the chances they get
- VANTEL

I can't argue with that. They need to finish.

He's also being paid 5 mil to NOT be snake bit and score, and he's showed signs of being disinterested and floating on the back check.

Vrbata very good

He brings nothing but scoring. Nothing at all. He's a liability when not scoring. Everybody else has to produce results to stay in the line up. Let's make Vrbata the exception

Anyone who thinks Daniel was trying to roof it, hasn't played or watched enough hockey.

The puck was wobbling and he got underneath it.... he should of scored regardless but calling him out for trying to showboat....

The PP still needs a point shot on the right side, they are trying Vrbata there that isn't where his skills lie. If Weber isn't going to get a chance then find a different RH player who will.

As of right now the 2nd line unit is looking more dangerous.

I thought the kid line and Jake looked good at times but still don't think Jake is ready for the NHL and that's okay. His hits are great and his speed is terrific but doesn't understand his role enough in the neutral or D zone.

Hansen with the Sedin's isn't sexy and I know Sutter got more points with them but the Sedin's play their game better with Hansen then with Sutter IMO. I still think Vrbata or Burrows needs to be with them.

Sutter looked good last night playing with speedy line-mates, his biggest attribute is his speed and he can't use it with the twins. Even if he put up some points on the top line, I don't think he looked very effective.

Sedin Sedin Vrbata
Baertschi Sutter Burrows
Virtanen/Higgins Horvat Hansen
Cracknell McCann Prust/Dorsett

I see it 100 times/season in my Arena here all the way from Minor Hockey all the way on up to the WHL/Can Pro camps we have here. The kids (and pros) love the pretty goal. Love it when it bangs in off the crossbar and in. Daniel was showboating plain and simple. wobbling or not...open net or not...just tap the damn thing in. He was trying to go roof a daddy top cheese to make it all look good...seen it all before. He knows it too and should know better. Cost us a point last night.

Everyone else has to produce to stay in the line up? Baertschi is the only one who has been held accountable for not scoring in the lineup.

By your thinking Crosby should be benched as well right?

Henrik let sekara blow by him in OT , Bench the loser he has less point than prust.

Am I doing this right?

Once again Vrbata had a lot of shots many of them being high quality scoring chances, some times they don't go in. For a guy who claims to be better coach than WD, you seem to be forgetting what hockey can look like in small sample sizes.

I thought he kind of just poked at the puck... My issue with it and many similar is the skating by and not stopping, just in case it doesn't go in. Wouldn't have made any difference in this case because the puck ended up behind the net.

Too much has been made about the play anyway.

Guys who have played over 1000 games understand this as well, I guarantee Danny doesn't give a single flying (frank) about the highlight goal. He wants to win games. He screwed up a tap in..... it happens and it certainly doesn't mean he was showboating.

Some of you get your panties in a twist over the smallest of things.

To be fair to WD, I am not sure if Baertschi was sat because of not scoring or not going to the dirty areas or not being good enough defensively.

has anyone missed Higgins yet?

I said it in another thread, Vrbata might not want to play with the Sedins anymore than they want him on their line. He likes the puck a bit more on his stick, to be more involved in the play, the Sedins forget there is someone else on their line. Vrbata gets the puck and shoots it right away and the Sedins want a better attempt.

I'm referring to WD comment after Bae was sat saying "this isn't a try league it's a get it done league" (paraphrasing)

I have no problem with him being sat, I was disagreeing that Vrbata not being sat is somehow being given special treatment. All vets get the benefit of the doubt 5 games in.

Very true. However if you watch the play closely he actually was coming in turning to his left and all he had to do was backhand (tap) the puck in...he purposely went to his forehand to try to roof it or hit the back bar(s) to make it look decent.

Anyhoo...moving on. It cost us a point...I'm over it.

The whole roster situation will be in flux until the group decides whether McCann and JV will stay or return to jr. Guys sitting, not necessarily because of their play, but who WD wants to see in certain situations. If they keep one or both, I think JB will have to move a winger.

And I agree with Vrbata (vets) having earned some leeway. If they sat Vrbata, I don't know what they would be trying to accomplish.

There was another 2 or 1 in the game where I guess whoever didn't have the puck was skating hard for the pass and tap in from the side, but it was a shot and rebound, and since they were skating so hard to get to the side of the net, they ended up going past and missing the rebound. Maybe my critique isn't always applicable - hard to stop on a dime.

There were more than a few missed opportunities last night.

Looking forward to the Eastern teams coming for a visit.
