If they pull the trigger on a first line centre, for once. They can contend. If not it will be another unfulfilled year. Management hopes it will pan out but they are beyond delusional. Start playing teams in the west on one of those long road trips and people will be thinking otherwise, I am sure. - Habby67
Pull the trigger? You make it sound like it's been lined up in years past.
If you want a legitimate #1 centre, Patches, PK, or Price are leaving.
They're finally playing like a well puttogether team, and you're here finding holes that don't exist right now. Who knows what will happen down the line, but (frank) enjoy the fact that they're playing better than they have in like a decade while it happens. |

Only Toilet Seat fans will say that they are contenders but really...they are pretender!!!! Price alone can not take this team to the Stanley Cup final |

Soo many haters on today. What today has shown is how little credibility most of the haters have and also how sad their are for talking poop with no credible backup.
Heres a cool story. If the habs lose price, yes the team will sttuggle and probably arent as good. But what makes this a cool story is that if that happened to any of the other 29 teams, losing yheir best player would make them less good too.
But what is true is that th habs have depth, have oitshot opponents 90% of the time and that means you too det, 23 shots to 3 inthe 3rd of last game. Price cant score, but with any good team(s) having a stellar goalie is pretty good.
What i see here is a bunch of dave naylor and festchuk followers spreading the same rhetoric... Then festchuk admita to only seeing the habs play once this year. And ya price kept th habs in that game vs toronto.
Its hard for any team to win 4 on the road let alone the first 4 gmes.
Its hard to keep teams to under 10 and sometimes 5 shots a period for any team
Its hard to build a team thats getting scoring from all 4 lines. Our 4th has played over 12 mins a game most games.
With that said, sure the optimism is high and its warented. Maybe watch some more hockey befor you put on the hate... You look uninformed, albeit its your opinion, but still you look silly. Ps ya i watch alot of the oilers flames pens ott. Lets say i wtch a poop ton of hockey. Objectivity does you more in the long run - munky123
I'm just wondering based on the above if you think Columbus will run last seeing as though their start is basically the reverse of the Habs? Will the Ducks stay bottom 4? Or can both those teams put aside their start & improve?
Early start early wins for you guys but you can regress just as those other teams can improve. Review in January & then we will see the bigger picture. But I'm jealous of your start for sure - 6-0! Wow.
Trouble is there's only 1 direction you can go now. |

Most level headed comment in the last 5 pages.
Nothing wrong in being perceived as a contender and at the same time being the underdog. A bit early though to get our feathers ruffled, the playoffs aren't until next year. |

only reason the team is doing so well is because of Max Pac as captain. Obviously |

Tonight's game between Blues & Habs should be a good one! Montreal is tops in the league and the Blues have been playing very good since it's not mid-April yet! |

Just jumping in here. Eric Staal is UFA and probably could be had for a bunch of picks and prospects. Fact is if this team can become 4 deep at center, they can be true contenders. It's probably the only missing piece. |

It's going to be a good one. Habs need to shake their Blues' blues. |

He is indeed, until he is dethroned. As the Blackhawks are as we speak the best team in the world, until some other team dethrones them. |

Pretty impressive considering he's probably hacking lung darts in the team garage in between periods |

Eric Staal on the 3rd line? I wouldnt touch Galchenyuk at center and Plekanec as 2nd center. unless someone gets injured |

It is so hard to get a sensible response to this question. Hab fans seldom see a flaw, and the Habs are always Cup contenders even when glaring weaknesses are afoot. On the flip side those that despise the Habs (mostly all that are not Hab fans) and the Habs could ice the Canadian Olympic team and they would still say the Habs are trash.
Truth is Habs are moving from a pretender, a team with lack of fire-power, a great goalie and good team play to a Cup contender. 6 games is too small a sample size to crown them an elite team. If Eller, Semin, Galchenyuk and others are STILL producing at close to their current point a game pace, and Price is still playing light's out. Then YES....they are a contender.
I will wait for 20-30 more game though. I can't see this group of Top 6 forwards scoring at this rate long term. Eller is a 3rd line guy really. Semin hasn't done it for 80 games in 4-5 years.
I vote, they are a very solid team. A team that can go a round or two...maybe even 3 in the playoffs. BUT, are still a couple of players from winning a Cup....yet.... |

Plekanec would fall to the third line. |

Many hab fans are level headed. There are still flaws on this team notably their depth at center. A lot is riding on Galchenyuk being "the guy" but it is still in wait and see mode. I'd like MB to go out and fetch a top 6 center as insurance. |

So, what I get from haters is that, a team that does in the semi-finals 2 years ago, finishes 2nd overall last year, has the best goalie (player) in the league, starts with 6 wins in the seasons (which the team has NEVER done in a 100 years of existence, even in the 70'), one of the teams that played most playoffs rounds in the last few seasons, is not a contender? |
