I would play Umberger ahead of Vandevelde and keep White in the line up. Umberger and Vandevelde in my opinion are similar players. - SuperSchennBros
I think Umberger is better overall but Hakstol seems to love the VdV-Bellemare pairing, particularly on the PK. |

They seem to like using VDV on the PK a lot. Not sure they want to throw Umberger out in his spot. I'd probably sub Umby in for White, but I don't think it makes a huge difference. Other than the stupid penalties, I think White has played well in his role |

I would only use LTIR as a last resort. You could get by for a while playing Vinny seven minutes a night on the 4th line if two regular forwards got hurt, and the message that he has no future here would still be clear. - Feanor
There are some reasons to avoid it, but I think avoiding playing Lecavalier is more important. |

Vandevelde is a key PKer, and Umberger is better than White. |

Imho, there is no need for anyone to send "a message." Both sides know the position of the other. Only time will end this relationship. - Scoob
Lecavalier didn't get the message last year, he came into camp thinking that Berube misusing him was the reason for his poor season last year. I'm looking to shorten the amount of time it takes to end the relationship. |

Correct.
And I like Ryan White, but he can take a stupid penalty now and again. I'm fine with him sitting in favor of Umby. |

There have been a few times in the games where the Flyers have played well but taken a few too many penalties, and the goaltender and PK have bailed them out
Might not want to try that against the Stars |

Then you're looking for some kind of disaster on another team where he is the answer, as I think that's the only way that'll happen.
Or, I suppose, the Flyers could change their mind and buy him out.
Or he could change his mind and walk away from millions.
So, I guess what I just talked myself into is that there are plenty of options. |

There are theoretical options for sure. I don't believe that Lecavalier can be traded without retaining salary, or giving up a key sweetener in the deal. Neither of which I would do. I also would not buy him out. I would let him sit for as long as it takes. |

I'm not a fan of paying a player to play elsewhere, either. Nor am I a fan of sweetening a deal simply to be done with the situation.
Personally, I don't think he can be traded at all unless some team has a catastrophic situation, or perhaps next season needs to reach the cap floor. Were he trade-able he'd be playing elsewhere now.
So it's buy-out, ride it out, or walk away.
I'll take door number two, Monte. |

He probably won't do it, but he may want to consider being sent to the AHL. His best chance to play in the NHL would be to show other teams that he can still play. He won't get that chance in Philadelphia. But I'm sure he's not too keen on riding the bus. |

That could be doable. But someone else has to carry the mail on this one. I could probably sneak in to the locker room using a disguise, but I have no idea how to get crystal meth, 6 pounds of heroin, or a sufficient amount of Oxy to get in to his bag.
Can BiggE or Tangent point me in the right direction?
