In the old days, a GM would sell out to fix that -- you wouldn't piss away a whole season with the kind of forwards they have. You'd see first-rounders and high-end prospects in play, right now
This era of the NHL isn't like that. Chris Pronger isn't getting traded multiple times anymore. GMs just aren't going to do it - AllInForFlyers
How long can Columbus keep failing? They have a lot of their draft picks in the lineup. They picked up Saad. They added Hartnell last season. Bob's in goal. They have to be thinking that if they're healthy they're in the mix.
They're healthy and they can't keep the puck out of the net, score or win one damn game.
If they don't trade us two picks for Streit then they'll have to fire Richards and hire Torts.
Those are the only options. |

I can remember stretches like that though. They were out of a lot of games in the first period. They gave up a lot of 5 and 6 goal games. - mayorofangrytown
By my quick count they lost 20 games where they gave up 5+ goals

I hear you, but I'll be fairly surprised if they part with picks or high-end prospects
Why? Because that is what I would do, and GMs these days do exactly the opposite of what I would do to fix an obvious problem |

They didn't have a stretch of 6 like the BJs are have to start this season but they gave up more than 300 goals that season. That's some bad hockey. |

They're more in the market for a defensive defenseman than someone like Streit. For a pair of first rounders, they might as well take a shot at acquiring Buff - PhillySportsGuy
Luke Schenn would upgrade their third pairing. |

I would be too but if they still think they're a playoff team on a bad start they might part with a first to get on track and sure up the D. |

... and we could bring up MacDonald.
That would liven up the thread. |

That's probably something they could do. It's difficult to make trades now because no GM wants to give away a player for a future asset until they know they won't contend. The cost will be high for everyone.
One acquisition isn't going to suddenly turn the team around though. They need Bob to be a good goalie again. |

I can't imagine any worse person to bring to a fragile team.

They're not playing that badly.... 50%+ possession team at ES and a really good PP.
It's mostly been Bob sucking and their PK being 65% that has sunk 'em so far.
If I were them, I'd wait this little period out. They're better than the standings would suggest. |

John Davidson is there though. There's your connection to Torts. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they make a coaching change that he's the first one interviewed. Davidson loves him. |

How about Chicago? They like to play fast and loose with their picks around Hextall and Keith is out. |

Hmmm...I don't know, man. No, they're not the worst team in the league, and certainly I don't believe that they will finish the season as porous as they have been early.
But their ability to play bad defense is not understated. They give up shots and chances that are the kind the Flyers were giving up when Luke Schenn and Meszaros started to go sour, when Gus and Hal Gill were playing.
Sometimes, it doesn't matter how good you are offensicely, like Dallas was last year, when you give up the kinds of shots and chances that are prime opportunities |

Agreed. It's still early and they've shown once they hit their stride they can win 10+ in a row |
