I want nothing to do with him. He used to be a good coach but he's off the rails now. - mayorofangrytown
I always found his trolling of Larry Brooks to be awesome because Larry Brooks is garbage. |

I think that's what started his downward spiral. The fact that he could bully Brooks kind of empowered him. Just my opinion.
Entertainment wise it could have only gotten better if they had gotten into a wrestling match. My disdain for both of them knows no bounds. |

I don't even think it's a system thing either. I just think his players hate him and don't respect him |

He may be fine in small doses.
I would never want my favorite team to hire him |

He would almost need a team full of kids who don't know any better.

Hmmm...I don't know, man. No, they're not the worst team in the league, and certainly I don't believe that they will finish the season as porous as they have been early.
But their ability to play bad defense is not understated. They give up shots and chances that are the kind the Flyers were giving up when Luke Schenn and Meszaros started to go sour, when Gus and Hal Gill were playing.
Sometimes, it doesn't matter how good you are offensicely, like Dallas was last year, when you give up the kinds of shots and chances that are prime opportunities - AllInForFlyers
Dunno, the numbers don't really paint that dire of a picture.
They're middle third in terms of CA and CF... they're not exactly running and gunning their way to positive Corsi land. Seems like they're playing decently so far at ES. Same with scoring chances... they're splitting 50/50 almost exactly there.
I look at Bob's numbers tho... dead last in the league in low-danger SV%, and mid-danger SV%.... I think he's just been bad so far. .835 goaltending is gonna drag even a good team down, much less a pretty average one.
I'm thinking at some point, Bob's gonna stabilize... maybe not be too far above .900, but no way he stays this bad. |

If Torts got hired in Toronto, he could finish what Brian Burke and Ron Wilson began.

I don't think they would go for that trade. Streit would have an impact but not THAT large an impact. - FlyersGrace
Not to mention that its October and I think its a tough sell to the team, ownership and fans if you trade away one of your best dman for future picks. Now if it were near the trade deadline and the Flyers are in the same position as last year I could see Hextall doing it |

Tough sell or not, getting offered 2 1sts for any of our current NHL defensemen is something you have to do. |

I think Umberger is better overall but Hakstol seems to love the VdV-Bellemare pairing, particularly on the PK. - Feanor
I think it's funny to view Chris Vandevelde as a key penalty killer. I know the coaching staff views him this way but we're also heading into game 5 of the season and we're a summer removed from being a bad penalty killing team. Umberger on the other hand has been a solid two way forward for most of his career, as well as a key penalty killer in his own right.
This season based on what I've noticed, Giroux, Couturier, Laughton, Bellemare, Vandevelde and White have all killed penalties. Have we seen Read out there? I actually view White as a better player than Vandevelde. White is more gritty, strong at the faceoff dot and showed flashes of decent offense through his own hard work when returning to the line up last season. This might be why White saw first unit PP time in Simmonds absence last season. |

I'm not a fan of paying a player to play elsewhere, either. Nor am I a fan of sweetening a deal simply to be done with the situation.
Personally, I don't think he can be traded at all unless some team has a catastrophic situation, or perhaps next season needs to reach the cap floor. Were he trade-able he'd be playing elsewhere now.
So it's buy-out, ride it out, or walk away.
I'll take door number two, Monte. - Scoob

They're not playing that badly.... 50%+ possession team at ES and a really good PP.
It's mostly been Bob sucking and their PK being 65% that has sunk 'em so far.
If I were them, I'd wait this little period out. They're better than the standings would suggest. - Tomahawk
Have to believe they'll turn it around, although it's hard to dig out of a hole. Honestly, I don't see a single move making that much of a difference. Don't make a panic trade.

I'd have to look at the numbers, but last season, when Berube started going to Vandevelde and Bellemare as the top forward PK pair, the PK stabilized and got better. The sample size is more than 5 games this season.
