Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Will Jake Virtanen & Jared McCann Stick For the Season? As their nine-game trials approach the halfway point, have Jake Virtanen and Jared McCann done enough to stick with the Canucks for the full 2015-16 season?

Great article Carol, enjoyed the story about Boesner he seems like a great pick even though I was really hoping they would go for D. I hope both guys stay, Virt's laid some nice hits and been battling and McCann has been good two-ways. Maybe they swap Vrbata and a pick for some young d talent once Higgins is back?

Keep both JM and JV and put JV in a position to succeed. For example, if WD is thinking of putting Dorsett or Prust on the second line, put JV there instead

I am all messed up in deciding what to do with JV and McCann.

I voted to keep McCann and send JV back even though it prolly should be the other way around.

The challenge is our 4th line has 3 vets on it and it should be the spot for JV to start. I think McCann would benefit from another year of jr in that his size/weight is his biggest challenge but see his skill set as something the Canucks could use this season, especially on the 2nd pp and on the 2nd or 3rd lines.

McCaan looks like his skill level is NHL ready but needs help on his work along the boards. And that is just a strength issue. If he keeps working at it, I see him being better than the guy he was traded for a couple years down the road.

And I vote to keep em both. JV is not gonna get any better by steam rolling 16 year old kids and scoring junior type goals. JM could benefit from learning to be a pro by watching, practicing and playing with solid vets like the Sedin's, Sutter and Burrows. Like Carol stated. With almost no cap room. it may hurt the team more by sending one or both of them back. I'm ok with playing the kids while having an off year. Because we are not winning a cup or contending for one any time soon.

I agree his body may not be 100% nhl ready, but not that this is a reason to send him down. Johnny G did not look to have an NHL body last year but showed he deserves to be in this league and was one of calgarys best scoring threats. I see JV and McCann improving every game I see them. If you improve at the NHl level, what are the chances Juniors has anything for you to get better with? Backwards is not the way to go Forwards. I also have not seen them being a liability on the ice. yes they make some mistakes, but so do our vets. I mean Sidney Crosby doesn't even have a point yet and people always argue between him and Toews as to who is the best in the world(Toews hands down)

Of the two, I think JV has the least to gain in junior. However I like what McCann brings and dont see any valid replacement for him on the roster or Utica. I would only be ok with them sending both back if they basically said something like "we are going to see what we have in Utica while building for the future" (aka tank for a better pick)

Keep them both. JV won't improve in junior and we need Mccan. It all comes down to where will they develop best? I think you ease them into the NHL in a similar fashion to Horvat. 1 difference, release both for the Workd Juniors and bring up Gaunce while they are away.

Yeah keep em up. For what we would get out of Higgins and the like drawing back in, it's serves no purpose to send them down now after what we've seen what the youth is capable of.

Is it me or Higgy looking a bit porky in that interview? Puttin' in a little OT with thye knife and fork??

I voted keep them both since the roster is only at 22. This means that they will be getting rotated in and out of the line up once Higgins comes back but thats still better than junior for these two guys.

The only thing that concerns me is McCanns size and strength... it's not ready... he already has been banged up because of it. He'll just have to learn quick to have NHL awareness.
