I voted keep them both since the roster is only at 22. This means that they will be getting rotated in and out of the line up once Higgins comes back but thats still better than junior for these two guys.
The only thing that concerns me is McCanns size and strength... it's not ready... he already has been banged up because of it. He'll just have to learn quick to have NHL awareness. - boonerbuck
Wasn't that from a cheap shot by Backes? Many people would have been banged up by it.

maybe if actually gets banged up, he'll get to do a rehab stint in the AHL

I agree his body may not be 100% nhl ready, but not that this is a reason to send him down. Johnny G did not look to have an NHL body last year but showed he deserves to be in this league and was one of calgarys best scoring threats. I see JV and McCann improving every game I see them. If you improve at the NHl level, what are the chances Juniors has anything for you to get better with? Backwards is not the way to go Forwards. I also have not seen them being a liability on the ice. yes they make some mistakes, but so do our vets. I mean Sidney Crosby doesn't even have a point yet and people always argue between him and Toews as to who is the best in the world(Toews hands down) - Retinalz
I am reminded of Gilbert Brule whenever someone says going back to junior does nothing for a player... then again, can't say with certainty what could have been either.
I'd like to see an established winger traded, not too picky either as long as it is Higgins.

It is about time Vrbata got moved up with the Sedins. He is the only legit sniper and the Sedin's efforts are being wasted as even they are snake bitten right now as evidenced by Daniel's open net miss. He could not do that even if he tried, just bad luck. Need Horvat, Sven and Sutter on second line. Too many third liners getting top six ice time.

WD is going to have to find some lines that do work. I want to see McCann with a little skill around him too. Sick shot on him.
But as an 18 year old, he was smaller and was among the more productive Oilers p/60 on his team. Though, he did have his share of injuries... - 1970vintage
Tricky trying to combine what I want to see and the lineup I expect WD to ice... - hillbillydeluxe
I suspect it will be:
JV Horvat Hanssen
Dorsett McCann Prust
They need to see if Mccann can with D&P before Higgins returns. That will give 4 centres and Cracknell flies to Utica. When Higgy returns Sven/JV/McCannon all get turns watching from the press box and/or loaned to National team until injury or trade happens. Vrby gets chance to refind his TDL value and which time all is well in the world again.

How has that worked out for the Oilers? - A_SteamingLombardi
They have 4 1st overall picks in the lineup, I think Canuck fans would be pretty happy about that right now, seeing as the Oilers and Canucks have won the same number of cups in the past 10 years...
JV needs to play and so far WD seems reluctant to use him. Likely because he isn't responsible enough yet. The team will miss his physical presence but if the coach doesn't trust you to play, it wont make a difference.
I'm also in the camp of seeing this team be as successful vas possible this season but development should still be priority number one.
Unless a spot opens up on the 4th, send JV back.
McCann so far has looked IMO ready as far as his hockey sense. Keep him as long as he is physically capable, I say keep him. It would suck to burn a year of contract if he falters later in the season but is a risk worth taking.
