Columbus have some questionable contracts. Clarkson Johnson Hartnell
- VANTEL

Yes, but Johansen for 4M for the next 2 years is a steal.

Really? Jack Johnson and Scott Hartnell contracts are fine, a 40 point defenseman and a 60 point forward for 4.3 & 4.7 million bucks is fine.
- LeftCoaster

4 years left on Hartnell

Johnson I heard can be an adventure on D

Age would only be my concern with Hartnell but I dont think he has much term left anyways
- WhiteLie

He's 33 with four years, including this year, left - but saying its bad because he might get bad in the future is the same as saying Henrik and Daniel's individual contracts are bad because they might get worse.

Until you play like poop and you're getting paid really good, your contract is fine IMO. But that's just me

Torts for a 2nd
Now that is great asset management by JB
Were still paying him which facilitated the deal and makes this whitewash any of JBs so called mistakes.

CBJ are going to be giving us at top 40 pick in a deep draft, I wonder if there is a former 1st rounder who's stock has fallen that we can trade it for! Maybe a undersized forward!

I didn't read back but assumed they meant we've never selected first overall, which everyone should know, even the most idle fans.

I was just throwing it out there that Jovanovski was selected first overall by Florida and played for the Canucks only a few years after he was picked #1.

I believe the Canucks have picked 2nd overall four times - Tallon, Nedved, Linden & Daniel?

Yeah, you don't need to explain to me, I'm on the same team.

Best part of Torts going to CBJ is that it will make Johansen want to get out of there as quickly as possible!!!!! 3 more years until he's UFA

Would anyone here agree that Hutton Sbisa have looked as good as Bart and Hammer so far this year?

That they got rid of Horton is worth having Clarkson. Insurance doesn't cover Horton's salary and he will likely never play again.

I'd rather work that out without sending anyone under the age of 25 back...

Tortarella's is for 3. Could it be possible that he drives him further out of CBJ? Raj would make for the perfect replacement for Hank as 1LC

Exactly!

I don't remember the details, but when the trade was announced, it was revealed that Columbus was on the hook financially for Horton's salary even though he likely would never play another game. Toronto can afford to pay out $40 or whatever million, but the catch was that Columbus had to take Clarkson. For Columbus at least they were getting a player in their lineup for the money they were spending.

Gotta give to get. RJ is 23 years old coming off a 71 point season...it'll cost some of the future.
