The big question is, will Torts still be with the BJs when we use that 2nd round pick? my guess is NO. |

lol he isn't a black hole because you see that. He is purely invisible just like he was here after the first month or 2. The guy can't skate or hit. Great bottom 6 player - SMP8719
Yeah, and Sutter definitely won't regress to his career averages...we can revisit this trade mid-season for good measure. Too early to tell right now. |

Apples to Oranges as far as comparing a 1st line winger/2C to Bonino as a 3C as far as linemates and TOI..
BUT.
Sutter, +4, 5 pts, 17 shots in 6 games. (+1 short handed goal)
Bonino, +/- 0, 0 pts, 6 shots in 6 games.
Slight edge Vancouver if I have to say.. |

Not for me I have already watched Bonino play... and lots of Sutter... I know sutter has downsides.... like he can't pass worth a Shiiiit.... But I would still much rather have him then Bonino (He can actually skate)..... Money was too high but for what Sutter is providing so far it actually is good value |

Bonino's linemates have gotten progressively worse since ANA. He performed good in ANA due to Getlaf/Perry and being on what was considered (at the time) to be the best third line in hockey with Winnik and Cogliano. In Van he downgraded his linemates a bit and it showed in his point structure. No different in PIT. He has even worse linemates in PIT and it should reflect his points. If he is actually stuck on the 3rd line in PIT he will be lucky to break 30 pts. |

No one with a modicum of logic would use the first 6 games of the season as a sample to assess a trade. Like I said, we can revisit this topic in February and see how it looks with a reasonable perspective. |

That explains why pens fans were assessing the trade before preseason. |

Financials were the biggest gain for Pittsburgh. That's why it was a win for them. Sutter wasn't staying regardless. |

"Since the 2005-06 season, NHL teams in post-season position entering the American Thanksgiving holiday have gone on to make the Stanley Cup playoffs 77.3 per cent of the time, according to STATS. So, if you don’t have a spot by Nov. 26 this season, you’ve got a 22.7 chance of sneaking in — which covers teams that are within two or three points."

Johnny gaudreau could be the Martin St. Louis to stamkos on the flames.
I'd take a deal like that if I'm tbl. The team would be deep. |

Actually I started by saying Benning was looking to trade the newly acquired pick.
But on this topic, I do think you'll regret that trade and especially the re-signing. Then again, I've seen Sutter play a lot more than 6 games. He started out nice last year too. |

If only the trade was Sutter for Bonino straight up. Don't forget the 2nd round pick, Adam Clendening, and the ability to sign Eric Fehr. I agree it is way too early to say we were fleeced... |

Great, more sutter talk. This 4 day hiatus has really taken its toll around here
Looking at the practice lines hopefully Willie has learned his lesson about putting Prust or Dorsett in the top 6. but McCann centring these two guys? |
