Actually I started by saying Benning was looking to trade the newly acquired pick.
But on this topic, I do think you'll regret that trade and especially the re-signing. Then again, I've seen Sutter play a lot more than 6 games. He started out nice last year too. - jfkst1
"for a 5th rounder" which means what exactly? maybe I'm misunderstanding your posts, maybe you didn't come here to troll. As for Sutter, I've also seen him play more than 6 games. |

If only the trade was Sutter for Bonino straight up. Don't forget the 2nd round pick, Adam Clendening, and the ability to sign Eric Fehr. I agree it is way too early to say we were fleeced... - Mino42

Trading Clendening was akin to losing Corrado on waivers... neither had earned a spot as an NHL regular, and neither seem to be earning a spot on their new teams either. No use stockpiling dmen that are either bound to the press box or destined for the AHL.
The Pens acquiring Fehr had no impact on the trade from a Canucks perspective.
Unless Clendening or Bonino suddenly turn their sh!t around, the Canucks got the best player. If you want to say the Pens weren't going to resign him, great move by the Pens. All parties should be satisfied. Unless you are dissatisfied that the Canucks are happy with the trade? |

Great, more sutter talk. This 4 day hiatus has really taken its toll around here
Looking at the practice lines hopefully Willie has learned his lesson about putting Prust or Dorsett in the top 6. but McCann centring these two guys? - stevekariya
It's a good transition into the NHL, it worked for Horvat. Sheltered minutes, let the kid establish he knows how to play at both ends of the rink (which he does) and gain personal and coaching staff confidence.
It's a marathon not a sprint, he's 19 years old and still needs to grow physically. But man is that kid talented!!! |

Why the duck not? If he is going to make this team when Higgins returns then he likely has to beat out Craknell. He if he can't be versatile like Horvat was then it's back to junior for him |

I am not talking about fleecing as much as Sutter is better than Bonino..... The trade can't be revisited until the Pics are assessed... How is Clendening doing?

Good point, if they are so happy with their end of the trade why are they here trolling?I'm happy with the trade that's why I'm not in their tread being a jerk. |

No one with a modicum of logic would use the first 6 games of the season as a sample to assess a trade. Like I said, we can revisit this topic in February and see how it looks with a reasonable perspective. - jfkst1
You came in here trolling about trades,,, blows back in your face and now you want to talk logic on your way out.
Good day sir.

"Since the 2005-06 season, NHL teams in post-season position entering the American Thanksgiving holiday have gone on to make the Stanley Cup playoffs 77.3 per cent of the time, according to STATS. So, if you don’t have a spot by Nov. 26 this season, you’ve got a 22.7 chance of sneaking in — which covers teams that are within two or three points."

If both parties are happy, great.
Some people aren't happy unless they are telling someone how much better off they are or have it.
A trade can have both teams winning if both teams get what they want.
But nobody wants to be seen as helping a rival. akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face. |

reminds me of a guy I used to work with, he was telling me how terrible his strata was, crazy maintenance fees, and I tell him I'm looking to buy, and then in all seriousness he says there is a unit available in his building and maybe I should take a look... misery loves company
I am not necessarily a fan of everything JB has done, but I think we are headed in a better direction than what we saw under MG. |

Financials were the biggest gain for Pittsburgh. That's why it was a win for them. Sutter wasn't staying regardless. - jfkst1
So now the big issue is saving money? You have two players eating about 1/3 of your cap space and you are talking about a 1.75 savings between third liners?
Your management has you drinking the Koolaid and spreading the good word. |

Nice to actually see a new generation instead of no generation. I named Gillis the "generation killer".
I know we got a couple of good picks out of Gillis but look how many selections were made in his tenure. I laugh at the "credit due" reminder people keep bringing up. My selections like many of us on here worked out better most years. How the (frank) can that be? I'm not a qualified scout and I'm as lucky as a Palestinian....
