I know we got a couple of good picks out of Gillis but look how many selections were made in his tenure. I laugh at the "credit due" reminder people keep bringing up. Divesting themselves of the burden that is John Tortorella is its own reward. Getting a (potentially high) 2nd round pick on top of not having him screw up your team is really the cherry on top.

I think Torts has been the new Keenan for a few years now. Teams don't play for their coach so the GM brings in Torts just to show these touchy feelies just how brutal it can be with a hard nosed wiener like Torts/Keenan. In a year he'll be gone and the players will be eager to play for his replacement.

Except FA and Gillis hired Torts for 5 years and the Blue Jackets players are likely the furthest thing from touchy feelies....

This is what makes this hiring so crazy to me. Torts is a guy known for getting teams to play a gritty lunch bucket style. Columbus already play that way, the problem is they have had absolutely brutal goal tending from a guy who has been on of the most consistent over the past few years.

What's that saying ?
