That's an interesting point. Nux should argue that they should get a piece of the second rounder, like having Columbus trade the second for a fourth and fifth if torts is fired and rehired and then Nux would get the fifth and Columbus the fourth...

Bennning wasn't hired yet. Trevor fired Torts. Whether or not Benning and the Canucks were deciding things begind the scenes before he was officially hired who knows.

I think Torts has been the new Keenan for a few years now. Teams don't play for their coach so the GM brings in Torts just to show these touchy feelies just how brutal it can be with a hard nosed wiener like Torts/Keenan. In a year he'll be gone and the players will be eager to play for his replacement.

Except FA and Gillis hired Torts for 5 years and the Blue Jackets players are likely the furthest thing from touchy feelies....

This is what makes this hiring so crazy to me. Torts is a guy known for getting teams to play a gritty lunch bucket style. Columbus already play that way, the problem is they have had absolutely brutal goal tending from a guy who has been on of the most consistent over the past few years.

Not really, I said a year ago he could be a decent stay at home D when he was on Portland. I do that with lots of guys .

Same here. Thats why I'm always laughing at the crowd that thinks every time a young player gets scratched or is a victim of the bench being shortened it's punishment and to take it one silly step further... think every kid should receive the exact same so called "punishment" as the other regardless of the circumstances of the moment like this kids feeling are far more important than winning the game or making the playoffs.

I laughed my ass off when they hired Torts. Like I said then and recently... I didnt need to see the results to know that Torts was a disaster waiting to happen... his glory days were in a different century... he's a useless headcase now... Torts was just being Torts... no surprises.

I swore like a trucker when he was hired. It was the shltty cherry on top of the disfunctional sundae that the Canucks were at that point.

Some of the stuff that came out afterwards was genuinely crazy. Not being at practices, never having a a conversation with burrows etc.

It's like he thought that his only issue was the way that he conducted himself with the media, and he was better at that while he was here, but clearly it wasn't his only issue.

Yep.

I remember trying to keep an open mind and hoping for the best but really expecting the worst.

I think he sees himself as a communicator and motivator, and plays it like some sort of hollywood role in front of the lights and cameras, but his message or script is an old, out dated story that you might listen to for a moment or two and then realize it is all bs... like the wrestling video posted the other day, no such thing as a wrestler for the intelligent wrestling fan...

When he was reaming out Edler and others, it wasn't so much how the message was received by the player, it was more important that it was delivered right there and then, spitting and sticking his finger in the players face.
