I'd like to take this time to point out that you shouldn't judge an entire fan base on the opinions of 1-2 fans.

This is a difficult concept for most on this site haha.

Or the whole "my teams better so obviously my opinion is better" argument

Personally, I try to take the emotion out of it and maybe even the past record.

And with that as a precursor, I don't think it was a suspendible hit. Maybe late, and the period was about to end, but it not like there is a countdown to the final whistle so he knows, " hey, there is only 10 seconds left in the period. I should let up a little bit."

If it was an average NHL player then he would maybe get 2 minutes and we wouldn't even be talking about it.

I'm not trying to make excuses for the guy, I just don't think it was as horrible as people make it out to be..........maybe a bit late.......shoulder down......contact in the chest........didn't leave his feet and his elbow seemed down........
Whatever.

At what point does Rask stop getting a pass because of "inexperienced D"? Hes been BRUTAL. Hes made one big save all year and that was in the Arizona game. We expected the D to make mistakes, didn't expect Rask to exacerbate them
- Shaundre93

Exactly! All this talk around Rinaldo and his style (or lack thereof) of play... let's not waste our time on the garbage. Let's talk about Rask. Man, he has been awful! As much as it pains me, I think they should ride The Monster for a little while and let Rask see what it feels like to ride the pine like he did when he was Thomas's backup. Maybe light a fire under his ass.

That's the thing, he (Rask) got his big payday for leading the B's to the Cup final and like many other stars before him, once they get their big money contracts, they take a few years off before its time to start renegotiating a new contract.

I agree, the D are young and inexperienced and we all knew that. But, Rask needs to be wayyyyyyyyyyyy better then this. Some of these goals he's been letting in my Bantam goalies could stop.

whether suspendable or not, i see the room for debate. i just hate seeing this (frank)ing clown in a Bruins jersey. it's like seeing ulf samuelsson in black and gold.

I have never liked him. Now that he is on the B's I hate him even more. Its like having a midget version of John Scott on the team

I was ok with the starting 3 for OT, but after Spoons took the penalty, Mcquaid and Chara are out on the PK? no way should those two ever be on the ice together.
- Charlie.Conway

As pointed out, Krug was drained, C. Miller was already out there, and Cross has only been in 2 games so far. McQuaid has had a decent season, and Chara has seemed defensively sound. K. Miller maybe would get the chance, but he had a bad game. Mcquaid and Chara are the best 2 DFD on this team.

Who the Hell do you put out there then Kevan Miller, he was freaking awful last night, and Krug started the OT . THAT is what you have to put out there, Sweeney & Neely felt this D was strong enough to start the Season, I called BS as well as many others and it's just my opinion but this is what we are going to be watching all year, the Defence is not NHL calibre PERIOD. Tuukka while not sharp is facing twice the amount of Quality shots as he's used to. Scary thing is they have nothing to look forward to, even when Seids is back it's not going to make much of a difference, Let's Face It, This Team has NO CHANCE at competing for a Cup. I still can't believe how Fast this Team went from a Contender to a Pretender.

As far as Rinaldo goes, WTF good-bye just a stupid idea that looks Bad on everyone.

- BruinBlood

Seidenberg > everyone other than Chara defensively. Krug has been pretty active on the back check, but Seids is so much more valuable than people give him credit for. Chara and Seids on that OT PK and things would look a lot different. Not to mention that fact that he will be absorbing 20 minutes or so of ice time from the rookies. Those Irwin turnovers, K. Miller turnovers last night, Morrow's early woes, take away a chunk of those when Seids returns. Self Fulfilling Prophecy people!

Hold on. While I don`t like Rinaldo`s dirtiness, you cannot compare him to Scott. Rinaldo is a good checker, draws penalties, and is quick. Like everyone has said, he can actually be effective IF he wasn`t a dink. He`s gotta smarten up and hopefully Claude benches him Friday to teach him a lesson.

On the hit. It was a bad hit. Period. But as someone stated already, it was an average bad hit that anyone could have delivered. So suspension is a little too much I believe. Good call on the ice.

The guy is garbage. A suspension is coming for this guy, and its going to come at the expense of a serious injury to another player. Its not a matter of if, its a matter of when.

the point is, he is a dink. don't be so literal with the comparison. it's just having a player that you've always despised on your team. and not in the "you love him when he's playing for you" type of way.

I'm just playing some devil's advocate. It's a borderline hit, I don't think he should be thrown to the wolves yet. Sit him a game or two. Have Julien ream him out. But he has drawn penalties. He has chipped in energy. He has more shots on net than several players. And is only a -1 which is also middle of the pack. I don't like him, he's a dink. But the point is that we need some faith in him turning it around for the sake of players and our team. But, if he continues, I will be the first to say send him away.

I agree with you. Good points. Couldn't care what happens in the long run with the guy, but black and white......wasn't suspendible. Border line.

Seids was a step behind last year because of his Knee Injury, so he's NOT going to be the guy he used to be, NOW add herniated disc surgery........... As much as us B's fans Love this guy for that Cup Run because he was an absolute Force in ALL those Series, Forget It, he is going to be another overpaid D-man on the blueline. They need to Re-Boot defensivley, they need to wait for that #1 D-man that hits FA and over-pay to get him here Not a Good Scenario

Yes, agreed. Didn't want him. Especially since Randell has been really effective.

Glad we're all getting along now!

Although I liked the boarderline spelling, as in it was up along the boards? No? Ok fine...

Until he found his stride in the last quarter of the season. The disc won't hurt him like the knee did. My buddy had the same thing, after the surgery you are better than ever. (Hopefully anyways) Not saying Seids is a #1 or #2. But a solid #3 on most teams. And playing against second lines, his Corsi will be up! Hits up! Blocked shots up!

Will Boston's defence still be lacking ? For a while yeah. But These young guys are looking good save a few mistakes that need to get ironed out.
