Ullmark has been a stud down there. Maybe they just want Lieuwen to get in a game this weekend for the Amerks.

I really liked what Lieuwen had done two seasons ago before the concussion. I'm hoping he's back to that this year. He, like Ullmark, fits Murray's mold for goaltender too, because he's like 6'5"

Nothing personal against Lieuwen, but he was a 6th round draft pick. I just want one of these kids (L, Makarov, Ullmark) to grow into an NHL starter, and I don't really care which one it is.

i dont think draft location matters for goalies. but i agree one needs to step up. Oddly i have liked the direction that Ocho Cincos game has gone, he really has gotten better and is looking like a viable backup

Goaltenders get picked all over the place. Lundqvist was a 7th rounder. Miller was a 5th.

But I agree, I just want one of them to work out. Don't forget about Petersen and Kasdorf in the NCAA ranks too.

It's not, but do you not think Murray sped up the time table considerably this offseason?

If we aren't a playoff team by next season something is wrong.

His success seems to be correlated to number of minutes. The more he plays, the better he looks. That's perfectly understandable, but it might mean he needs healthy splits even when Lehner gets back.

i have a feeling that Lehner trade is going to haunt TM.. i think one of the young guns is going to outshine him soon.. and that is if he ever stays healthy.

Hard to have any level of comfort seeing as how he's only been back there for about 30 minutes this season. But Johnson's play thus far at least affords us the opportunity to not feel the need to rush Lehner back. That's not to say the wheels don't fall off the bus at some point between now and even a few weeks from now, but Johnson has looked to be a sufficient body back there.

I know Toronto didn't get a ton of shots against us overall last game, but I still think that Johnson helped us steal the extra point in that game.

Sure, and as was pointed out, Lundy, Miller... dig for gold. I'm just saying none of these guys represents a significant asset investment - so whomever steps up it's all good.

And a few of those were quality chances, too.

I was at that game, and man... our possession is night and day to last year. Amazing what playing in front of an actual hockey system will do (no offense, HH).

Interesting note....Lieuwen and Lehner are the same age. There's only like 2 weeks between their birthdays.
