Not necessarily. This new core could be producing fine. Just say we get 70 points this year and 92 points next year. Do you really think that would be on the wrong track through two years? It would be around 40 points better than last year and we would still have Eichel getting better and Reinhart coming into his own.

I hope we make the playoffs next year but I don't expect it. When you tear down to nothing it might take an extra year even though the rebuild is sped up. That's the problem with going to the bottom intentionally, but it will likely pay off.

Even if they crack an NHL lineup in two years it'll probably be 3-4 before they make an impact.

I really don't know. Theory went around on the prior page that Lieuwen has been collecting cobwebs where Ullmark has been getting plenty of starts. Could be about brushing off the rust on Lieuwen.

That doesn't concern me. He was that guy who fell into the second and shoulda been a clear first, but for reasons that are becoming more obvious. Murray recognized the problem and "fixed that glitch".
