In terms of importance to their teams
I'd say Myers as their #2 D-man = Kane being our top line LW
and IMO Lemieux will be a very good top 6-9 winger = Bogosian as a top 4 D
We added in Armia, 25th overall, Stafford as well. - sbroads24
Armia isn't going to be a factor, and we wanted Stafford gone
so 25th for Kasdorf is an overpayment obviously but this all depends on Lemieux figuring it out (I think he is a bottom 6 forward)
They key thing is with this trade the Sabres got Eichel. Not Dylan Strome. I would rather have Eichel and Kane than Myers and Strome. |

I agree. When Kane was rumored to be shopped, I was all for Murray going after him. I guess I just didn't see him as this must have top line winger. |

I am in your corner, but to be fair I believe we got our current starting goalie, Johnson, in that trade too. I might be wrong I haven't looked in a while.

I am with you on that. However I have to say even without him getting points which the whole team has been struggling I think he has been the most consistent forward for them.
I do think him and Eichel will be a force to deal with if they can figure out who is the RWer on that line.
I do think you will see 30 goal seasons being the norm for him if he stays on Jack's wing. |

Im surprised how quickly people changed their tune after the trade was made. Like when the rumours were going around I mentioned giving up say armia, foligno and a 1st and was quickly shot down.
Im fine with what they gave up (armia, lemieux, 1st) to get kane as i feel kane will be better than all of them, it's flipping myers with bogosian on our roster that bugs me. |

Ah damn it that's right, Halak went to the Caps the year before.
It's hard to remember all these trades, we aren't used to this kind of action around these parts! |

He's been excellent. His only issue is that it always looks like he should score a lot more than he does. He takes tons of shots, and misses some opportunities. He's a really good player, elite talent, it just hasn't all come together. Sort of like Myers. Which is why I would have thought a swap was fair |

1. I don't care about today. But in two or three years, yes I do think they all make the team better.
2. Whether or not they make the team better does not justify massively overpaying for a trade.
3. Zadorov and grigo/armia struggling right now justifies why the trades weren't overpayments, but kane and orielly struggling to put up any stats has no bearing to the conversation because it is only six games in.
This board is a self contradicting hypocritical group of sycophants who are here more to socialize with like-minded homers than to give any real truthful fair analysis of anything. There are many who this does not apply to. All the rest of you know who you are. - SabresPanacea
My only point in that is the trades seem like an over payment to you, and likely not to the front office. We aren't sitting in the meetings to know what they are saying. Who knows how they projected Armia (seems like he wasn't on the right side of the GM), Zadorov had many off ice issues (not waking up mostly), and Grigorenko had his issues also with not being able to be consistent in "the show."
The only unknown factors we gave up are picks and Compher. None of which are in the NHL right now, so it's too hard to say.
Kane, O'Reilly, and Bogosian are viewed as players that can help and have the age that doesn't put them over the hill. I understand that Grigo, Zads, Armia, and Compher are younger, but they didn't seem to fit the mold of what Murray wants. If it falls apart and results aren't given based off of his timeline I assume he worked out with the Pegulas, he will be gone. |

I have an MBA, but it doesn't mean I have any idea about what it takes to run a hockey team. I mean that honestly and not in a way to discredit what you have earned or learned.
There is a plan being executed by the Front Office. If it fails, they will be gone. |

This message board is ridiculous. I state an opinion that I dislike how the Sabres have conducted trades, and I become personally attacked. When I defend myself against these attacks, I get side-swiped with a claim that I engaged in that practice.
