I like Yandle.*

*I haven't seen any #fancystats on him to support my position.

Tanner had a (people we lost this year) tribute to him, I didn't read it, I'm sure you can find some fancystats to support your position there.

(that was the joke). And I'd consider the AMac deal a bit worse.

Thanks, but no thanks. I'm sure there is way too much OEL love to weed through to find that data.

We contained him pretty damn well yesterday id say

Fun fact: Keith Yandle has more points than any flyers player so far

At least he's in the NHL, unlike AMac, and making 1.4M less than him... AMac's is probably the worst contract in the league.

I'm not trying to pick on you personally, you were just the first to say it.

The whole point for many wanting to get rid of the enforcer role was to add a player to each line up who had something to give.

For me the Flyers are their own worst enemies some nights. I thought Mason threw the game away in Florida and while the players didn't show up, by using terrible match ups at home against Dallas, I thought Dave Hakstol was equally the reason why we lost on Tuesday.

With this said, by not playing Vinny due to ignorant pride, this could cost us another game Saturday if both Schenn and Couturier cannot go. Injuries happen randonly during games. We need the bodies.

For me this is a chance to show what Vinny has left. I expect rust. I expect him to make mistakes. At the same time, everyone including himself gets to look at him. If he fails, no excuse, he'll see limited time from here on out.

Do not twist my words. Many admit Vinny could still be a capable PP player. We could use this.

- SuperSchennBros

I wouldn't mind seeing Vinny on the PP2 if Schenn can't go. Or if he can put Schenn back on PP1, it hasn't been clicking since they moved him off it. That and a combo of them trying to be too cute with the puck and looking for the perfect shot.

It doesn't make him good, but he is a great player. Top 5 offensive defenseman in the league behind Karlsson, Subban and Letang.

I knew James Tanner had an alternate username on here.

Is that why he has the easiest QoC and highest offensive zone% on the team?

And Duclair has more than points than Yandle in fewer games played.

So nice to see an exciting young winger like that out of our division and conference, especially when all the Rags got in return was 18 months of Yandle.

Which is exactly how a player like Yandle should be used. That's not a negative, it's smart coaching.

I think that has more to do with our coach taking advantage of his players strengths. Why would we waste Yandle's energy starting him in the defensive zone when McDonagh, Girardi, Staal, and Klein are all strong defenders?

It's common sense.

I would hope that a forward getting 1st line minutes would have more points than our "3rd pairing" defenseman

Duclair has the same amount of points as Giroux and Voracek combined.

It was your troll buddy who brought up point totals.

The Rags board must be a really boring place if you guys feel the need to come over with this weak poop. Our dman who gets 75% OZ starts has 5 points in 8 games... who (frank)ing cares. If he's so good why hasn't he been extended yet?

It is common sense, but that's how those stats are misunderstood and not used properly. It's offered as a criticism when really it is the farthest from it. That's exactly how a player like Yandle and his skill set should be deployed.

Take his numbers with a grain of salt. If you want to brag about his point totals then you have to acknowledge his easy ice time.

You compared him offensively to players like Karlsson and Subban. Those guys anchor their team's top pairs, play against the toughest matchups and still produce points.

It should be. Yandle is one of the premier offensive defenseman in hockey, and with the make up of the Rangers defense, they can afford to do that, to best try and take advantage of Yandle's skill set.

I wish we could use Streit like that.
