Regarding your denial of analytics
- PhillySportsGuy

There is no denial of analytics on my part. I use them on a regular basis. You brought up the other players to try to make the argument about something else rather than about Yandle's usage.

Mark Streit, who has been just as good offensively as Yandle has over his career, didn't need to be sheltered like a dog in 13-14 when the Flyers had a solid top pairing of Kimmo-Coburn. Even the best offensive dman in the game is only getting 60% OZ starts. If you think Yandle's defensive shortcomings aren't a factor in his usage you're kidding yourself.

Of course it's a factor, as is his offensive ability and the total makeup of the player. If you have the defense they have, and you have a top offensive defenseman who is suspect defensively, why would you not use him that way?

It's also why when some suggested the Flyers acquire Yandle, I objected, because for that cost in assets, I want an all situations player.

The Flyers trading for Yandle when they were almost certainly going to miss the playoffs might be the most ridiculous idea this forum has ever seen.

Well, we could move some serious assets for 5 months of Big Buff before he walks...

It doesn't make him good, but he is a great player. Top 5 offensive defenseman in the league behind Karlsson, Subban and Letang.
- rangerdanger94

Did I read this right?!?! Top 5?!?? Rangers fans are so stupid and naive. They think their players are the best at what they do. He's not even top 15 in offensive defensemen anymore. Karlsson, Burns, Subban, Wideman, Josi, Carlsson, Letang, Barrie, STREIT, Doughty, Giordano, Byfuglien, Shattenkirk, Mike Green, Klingberg....He's maybe top 20, not top 15, not top 10 and no way in hell is he top freakin 5. Put down that pipe. Rangers fans never surprise me with the poop they say anymore, but that is just ridiculous. Top 5?!?! LMAO!

Luke Schenn makes 3.6 mil
- jimbro83

Scott Gomez $7.5 mil, Drury $7.5, Bobby Holik $8.6... Theo Fleury, washed up Pavel Bure, washed up Kovalev, Wade Redden $6.5 mil... The Rangers invented stupid contracts so shut your mouth. You guys had an $88 million dollar payroll and didn't even make the playoffs. Only team ever to have Gretzky on their roster and fail to make the playoffs.

Keith Yandle had the 3rd most points of any defenseman in the league since 2012 behind only Karlsson and Subban.

The Flyers signed that horrible Gratton deal before any of those contracts. Let's please try to stay current to with a year or two, at most.

Claude Giroux has the most points in the league since 2011.

Therefore, Claude Giroux is a top-1 (at least top-3) player in the league.

I believe the Rangers need to get (frank)ed.

Still trying to figure out how you can "jump" someone when they're looking right at you.

Oh, and (frank) the Rangers, did I mention that?

That's nice, but we're talking about right now. You got him when his best years are clearly behind him and now he's overpaid and washed up. A shadow of his former self. You also have to take into consideration his transition game and his outlet passes when talking offensive defensemen. This is 2015. He's not the player he was in Phoenix. But you blind Rangers fans will never admit to that.

So is his beard. But seriously, he was tied for second in points among defensemen last year. He's definitely overlooked and underrated.
