Does Kane need a personal invitation to score? How many silver platter setups has eichel given him...sheesh |

Eichel should have about 7 assists this year if guys finished his passes, mostly Kane |

That's no where near the point though. The point is people are dismissing the cold starts by Kane, O'Reilly and Lehner yet playing the I told you so game with the prospects moved out - sbroads24
Somehow i feel it is near the point. The prospects are either a year, or years away from sniffing the NHL, and at that point may never make it anyways.
We aquired a couple of top 6 players, who btw arent the only players on this team that seem to be snakebitten so far this season. I am not dismissing the cold start. I am dismissing the notion that it wont turn around. Something that the prospects cant do, because they arent on an NHL team in the first place.
As i type this eichel feeds kane and blasts it off the post |

If Murray waited for these prospects to pan out he wouldn't have a job.
Plain and simple. The plan has always been to win sooner than later. That is coming from Terry Pegula himself.
If you want to play the prospect card vs the acquired NHL players card the ONLY person you have a legitimate argument about is Lehner.
Where are all of those draft picks and prospects now?
In junior hockey or in the NCAA. It doesn't keep you a GM if you sit back and wait.
Murray did what he did because he knows he has to produce a better hockey team and he has a deadline much sooner than most people think. |

Sabres were the better team in the first period, against an undefeated montreal squad. Explain that panacea
Time to start burying these chances to shut him up |

This team is so much dfferent this year its crazy. Makes it fun to watch again. Risto is really looking like a stud D man for us. Feels like a breakout year for him. Larsson has looked like total garbage and would rather see Legwand instead on that fourth line. |

yea but in those he was trying to create his own plays and taking high/wide shots.
These are being spoon fed to him. The goal he scored against Toronto was an absolute snipe...but this one he couldn't finish? |

A few days ago I said they should break them up. Get Eichel and Ennis together. Get Kane and ROR together. Can't hurt. |

I honestly think he brought that on himself by making these trades.
We do not have many promising players in our pipeline, which is fine if this team becomes great on its own.
I just have a feeling we will look back and wish we kept some depth.
Chicago basically drafted 2 cup teams |

The depth will come back in the next few years as long as we draft well. |

lucked into it too. little things like Keith's ridiculously cap friendly contract keeps them competitive. They never really had to make the tough decisions that the lightning will have too over the next 2 years. |

It may work, it may not.
It is ridiculous to compare slow starts of prospects we traded away who havent stuck, or have never even played one NHL game to two players having slow starts that are bonafide top 6 NHLers |

I think its a bit of both. He had some pressure coming from upstairs to get better sooner, I think the ROR trade is what really pushed things along though. |

Defensivly the difference between Nolan and Bylsma is night and day so far. We have gone from letting 40+ shots a night to near half that now. |

Oreilly and kane are proven, bonafide top 6 nhl players.
The prospects you speak of are not. Nice try though - ieetbred
Fair enough and good point, but i have seen a lot of bonafide NHL forwards come here and see their production drop, which seems to be a trend. Ville Leino, Chris Stewart. I realize that Kane and O'Reilly are better than these players, but there seems to be an issue with moving from a good or average team to the Sabres. Players coming here are expected to play roles they haven't been in before. O'Reilly was never the main man and the primary focus of defenders. And I don't expect them to produce at the same rate as they did when they were good players benefiting from playing second line roles.
So when you all say they are thirty goal scorers, I expect much less. They were 30 goal scorers in the situations they were in on better teams in lesser roles when they weren't expected to be the best forwards on the ice. Now things have changed, and we will see if these guys ever produce what many of you expect.
should I remind you that neither team thought enough about these boafide top six forwards to keep them around? |

One they couldn't afford to keep (O'Reilly) and one was pretty much ran out of town by the media. Kane has been doing everything right so far since his arrival. He developed a reputation (which is usually earned) so if he is working on fixing that good for him and good for the Sabres. |
