All this time between games promotes misery and despair....for the record, none of Hutton, Virtanen or McCann are getting sent down. I have it on good authority.

It was strange to hear they made the team out of camp, knowing they just made the opening night roster. It sounded like the media were getting ahead of themselves.

Loved it.

I can't see the kids being sent back. As fans we have to let them make mistakes and stop crapping on them every time they do. It will pay dividends in 3 years

Hutton should stay ...the others ...probably would benefit the team now to send them down
Repeatedly giving up 3rd period leads could be a result of lack of depth that the coach trusts ...

I'm not opposed to keeping all of them up with the team, but WTF are the Canucks going to do to make room for them all once Higgins gets back. Not to mention how are they going to get Sven going?

I thought they would have to send someone down or a kid back to the chl, but it appears they are running with 22 man roster and Higgins isn't on ltir so when he comes back he'll be #23, it just means one more player in the press box without any cap implications....

I was hoping Sven was going to show a bit better, but not sure if he needs more ice time to show his stuff but WD wants to see him show his stuff in limited ice time.

I don't see Higgins taking a roster spot. He will be spotted in here and there , but I see Canucks trying to get younger. I think they are delaying his return until Jr. tourney starts

I am not sure about retroactively putting him on ltir and cap implications, but they have left a spot open for Higgins on the 23 man roster. So by delaying his return, they presently aren't getting any cap relief and are running a man short on the roster...

McCann for sure should be attending the wjc camp, not sure if he is guaranteed a roster spot though.

WD, I'm pretty sure, can't wait to get Higgins back.

We keep blowing 3rd period leads Higgins will be back in faster than you can get to the $5 buck lobster table in Vegas...

Higgins will have a spot if Baertchi continues to bust...

The hesitation to play 19 year old prospects is understandable, but the results are frustrating.

WD said in an interview he wants them to be responsible but still play their game. had said the kids were giving opposing players too much respect. So they sit and watch others make their mistakes trying to hold a lead, sitting back and not attacking, resulting in a loss.

Unless a kid really screws it up, and even then, they should be getting about 8 minutes minimum and ideally would be getting closer to 10 minutes a game. Hopefully we start seeing that soon or they may as well be sent back to jr.

Does any one know if the Canucks have a feelings doctor or specialist on their staff?

No, but they have wives and girlfriends who can give them hugs and cuddles and tell them that it's alright... failing that, give them all female dogslaps and tell them to grow a pair and man up.

I thought team wives only did that for Kelser? Clearly not happening in Duck's land.

They did but he didn't get paid so now he's suing, just like the sleep doctor.

Agree. Where would the Habs be if they held Gallagher and Galchenyuk back? I am an advocate for keeping JV and especially McCann up but if we can't get them into a position to succeed send them down. Horvat is struggling this year due to discombobulated lines. One day he is with baertchi and Jv the next with god knows who. No consistency and in Horvats second year he needs support. It actually might come in the form of Higgins.

But like a few on here have said McCann looks great but it's risky to keep him up if he has strength issues. JV looks good at times but clearly isn't ready for a full year. Might change in few weeks but doubtful. Hutton should stay but if baertchi continues to bust out Higgins will draw back into the 2-3rd lines you can take that to the bank...

Unless JB has a trade in the works...

Quick note on Higgins:

I checked with General Fanager. Yes, the Canucks have a roster spot open for him and because he has been on the regular injured list rather than LTIR, there has been no cap relief. So he can slot right into the lineup as soon as he's ready.

Same with Markstrom - Bachman was an emergency call-up. So, no roster issues to worry about at all.

But we can worry about ice time. That's the main focus of the new blog:
