Sabres out shooting opponents in 6 of 8 games so far. It took 71 games to reach the same landmark last year.
The chances will get buried, Reinhart and Eichel will improve and we'll score goals. And look like the Bruins, because our defense is shoddy and our goalies are worse. - TheSabresTaco

Injuries are apart of sports. They aren't predictable. Sure some guys have the tendencies to get injured (Tin Man Tim). But for Kane who had a hurt shoulder to sprain his MCL in a freak accident is just that its a freak accident. But due to the style of hockey he plays you'll never get him for a full 82 game season. He will probably play around 70 games. It's the nature of the beast.
Bogosian as he ages and learns more how to use his body (remember he just turned 25) his injuries will subside. At least that's what I think.
Myers is often injured because he is a 6'7 giraffe on skates that skates very well but that leaves him vulnerable to getting hurt more. Let's not forget almost every time he tried blocking a shot he broke something.
The Lehner concussion thing is something to be worried about because head injuries are so weird. Him not being able to skate is probably what lead to him spraining his ankle like that. Let him fully heal and get fully conditioned before bringing him back. - Stripes77
Kane missing 12 games a year isn't a good thing. This is my point.
We traded for him to be a building block. Not someone who's in and out of the lineup.
Bogosian too. How can we pencil him in as our #2 D when he's been out for 50% of the time he's been here already. I also have never heard of physical defensemen becoming more stable as they age. It's usually the other way around |

I get it, it sucks, but its not like there's anything that can be done about it now. I imagine a no takesy-backsy clause was worked in by Winnipeg. |

I don't know about that. I think he and Bogosian are the complimentary pieces for the building blocks. Valued and important yes, but him being injury prone would not be the same as if Ristolainen, Reinhart or Eichel were often injured.
The real concern is Lehner's injury history, mostly because right now they don't have anyone who can make up for it (assuming he plays to potential). |

Wow - Buffalo--Sabres
I know it sounds ridiculous, but honestly - this is already a much, much improved team from last year. We struggle with consistency and finishing right now, but we actually HAVE THE F'ING PUCK this year. As bad as parts of this start have been, there's actually a lot to build on so far this season. |

How many injuries has Lehner had ? Thought it was one concussion and now the sprain. (caught in a ice groove) |

Bogosian and Myers are almost identical in the amount of games missed.
Take Chara for example. Other than his last 2 seasons (he is 38 after all) He averages missing 3 games a season |

Agreed Nf. I wasted a whole lot of nights cringing at the tube the past 2 seasons of longer. Now I don't hear myself swearing as much. |

It's not the frequency that bothers me it's the type. Young goalie + concussion leaves you a little worried and it clearly did a number on his conditioning as well. |

How many shots has Kane taken. Could be until he returns that we out shoot anyone. |

Just the concussion and the sprain which was either a freak accident or a result of him not being in the best of shape from not being able to do much in the offseason.
If it is the latter the Sabres have nobody to blame but themselves for rushing him back. |

I like our team too.
In fact, I like Kane.
But this isn't about building a competent team, it's about building a Cup contending team. With the limited assets and obvious holes on defense and in net. I'm not so sure the ride is going to ascend to that level as quickly or smoothly as people think |

It would be one thing if these guys were suffering the same injury over and over an over again, such that you could say Murray should have foreseen that the injury might recur, but I don't think - as a matter of medical science - anyone could predict that Kane's knee would blow rather than, say, Gionta's, Moulson's or Ennis'?? |

I'm excited bout this teams future. It's gonna take some time. If by the end of the year there isn't any improvement from the beginning, then I may wonder a bit.

Anyone can be injured at anytime and prolly will. See Timmy C. |

Totally agree. Last year I called the puck a boomerang. Because when it left our zone it just did a U turn and came right back in. It was painful to watch. The injuries are too bad but otherwise finishing is the only thing they aren't doing. |

It is improved, but let's be honest. That was happening no matter what.
Adding Eichel, Pysyk (who was purposely held back) Reinhart plays a huge factor.
I just fear we sacrificed a lot of future mobility with the Lehner, Kane deals. |

I think his question was more related to the tag on Lehner as being "injury prone" (a question I had too but didn't want to look up his history).
How is a guy tagged as such from having 1 prior injury, and then a fluke like this happening? Not diminishing the severity of concussions and that they generally breed more, but to call a guy injury prone is going a bit far if that's all it was (not saying you've done the labeling). |
