I know it sounds ridiculous, but honestly - this is already a much, much improved team from last year. We struggle with consistency and finishing right now, but we actually HAVE THE F'ING PUCK this year. As bad as parts of this start have been, there's actually a lot to build on so far this season.

Yep, that's on Darcy and Devine. Don't know if it was the scouting or the strategy (safe over high risk) but no real diamonds in the rough between round 2-7 for quite some time.

Nope, but they have their franchise centers for the next forever, likely their top LW, so the hunt is on for a top end RW and there's still a good chance that any of those I named or others could turn into very good 2nd line guys, especially with O'Reilly/Reinhart as their likely Center for a very long time

Xs can develop from the list I put earlier, could be Ennis, Girgensons, etc, or future trades/drafts.

Point is, I'm a patient man, I had zero expectations for this season other than for it to be an adjustment season and, as I said earlier, get the growing pains of large roster changes out of the way so smaller pieces later integrate easier.

By no means do I mean he's a top pairing guy, but hopefully he can turn it around and be a good 4/5 guy, something I think Ruhwedel could be too (4-6).

Ristolainen, Pysyk, McCabe, Guhle, Ruhwedel, Leduc - that's a damn young core of d-men. No awesome #1 in there by any means, but still a starting 6 that I think would be good.
