You guys already want to make trades etc
- AlEx_OiL

No I want to if it makes sense like getting some help on the back end...I wouldnt say make a trade for the sake of making a trade there is a difference

I've campaigned this before and I stand by it; Hall is who I trade. If you can get a Rick Nash-like return, the team is SO much better.

I've wanted to make trades since the beginning of the summer... of 2012. I get tired of holding onto assets that could be better used elsewhere (1sts, for example) as they continue to depreciate in perceived value.

Reinhart has been better then those two and he is out....Schultz you could argue was our best DMan before he got hurt.....just some poopty breaks that has resulted in us having to play those two....at least Nurse was decent

Not even an option for me. We finally get depth at center and the first thing we do is move away our only proven C capable of top-6 minutes (not that I doubt McDavid in the slightest). That leaves us with two sophomores as our top-2 unless you expect a top-4 D AND a replacement for Nuge in the same deal?

no. but this is iwhere you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the nhl

you think its ok to just continue to lose. 5 years hasn't affected them.
one day, they'll just wake up and turn it around all at once.

real strides this year or this core is fuked.
they need to improve now.

I never once suggested we would be in that position if you ready my earlier posts I said we werent a playoff team...but the goal is to get better and on the back end we arent better and wont be until we can get some help on that side....you seriously cant be ok with Ference and Davidson getting any minutes

Again you guys are over blowing things, the way I see this Oil team with a new Coach a new Gm etc is that from now moving forward this team is only going to improve even if the record is 3-7 now, this team have already improve lots and will only improve more once some of those other players are back,so to me no there's not need to make trades unless is for Ference and Purcell trades.
Ask yourself something if you were a Canuck fan or Leaf Fan or even Ottawa Fan and I could mention more teams. would you rather have this Oil team or their team?

EDIT: We will NEVER GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS if we keep putting guys like that out there is the moral of my story

Of course not but with Reinhart and Nurse up you won't be seen much of Ference and I don't mind Davidson as extra, this team will improve and have already improve to me.

we couldn't also get a great package for nuge? don't be silly.
I don't think theres a gm out there that doesn't think nuge can thrive in this league.

plus-we have a guy in the wings that has a tool set that could potentially make us better than nuge does. regardless of the pieces wed get for rnh.

we have no one that comes close to take halls place.

its cool to dish the wing depth, but not center depth?

wed have no problem replacing hall, but no chance we could do the same with nuge?
when in fact considering what we have in the system and through a deal--its the exact opposite imo

Cup? God no. Light years away. Are they capable of pushing for the playoffs? Not likely as they are now, but with the right move(s) I think they're as much a threat as a Dallas or Detroit were last year. The thing is, we don't know if they could push for the playoffs, but that shouldn't be what stops us from making a move.

Right but we need to get wins to put confidence in our players...if we keep losing they will lose even more confidence and that helps no one...now note how I didnt say get in the playoffs I said win games

7th last 2013
3rd last 2014

3-7 after ten games in 2016

and stop with the ference and Purcell. no one wants them. they have no value outside of maybe a middle pick at the td

Ill add this too...this team has ZERO pushback....you push the Oilers and they fold..it showed tonight again....the wild pressured us in the second and we folded...they pressred us in the 3rd and we folded...the custom of the Oilers is if a team pushes you then you simply fold...when Yak fell into the net and kncoked it on Duby and he was getting pushed around who helped him? not a single one...ugh this team

wow 3-7 crap please PC trade Nuge or Yak or First Pick for Weber or Prietrangelo etc so this Oil team can start winning games cause is so bad that one of those D players will make this team win 20 straight wins......you know PC the way Calgary is winning with all that super D or the Ducks you guys are so wrong about this Oil team.

You are being way too optimistic for the folk around here that are ready to slash their wrists, and as such assume that pro hockey players are as mentally weak as they are, and thus "have to win now or it's all over for them".....actually sounds more like it's them that need the win more than the players. Apparently after last season, with the changes that were made, the Oilers record was supposed to be 7-3, not 3-7. Instant fix for the fans that require instant gratification of needs.

For someone who complains about words being put in his mouth by others, you do much of the same to others. Didn't even get close to suggesting that.

Nuge's value to this team is far higher than I see Hall's. He's proven capable of playing top line minutes against top opposition in arguably the hardest position in hockey in the Western Conference and breaking near even. He's the best two-way forward in our top-6, is locked up for a year longer than Hall, and is just hitting his prime. He's a (frank)ing Bergeron.

Hall has immense value to both our team and any team needing offense, but he's injury prone and plays a fundamentally less important position. LW is an easier position requiring less detail than C- that's just a fact. So in saying that Leon should be able to replace Nuge, you have to think Leon would also be as (if not more) capable of replacing Hall.

Nope not saying the Oil would be a playoff team but would improve the Oil more.
