Yeah, he's going to make that big mistake... it's too bad, because he does a quietly good job at either end outside of those instances. He's like a better, more intimidating, Luke Schenn. - Tomahawk
I think he's shown he's more consistent. That and his cheaper cap hit gives him an advantage. That's not going to be in place for long, as he needs to re-signed. If both players bring their A game, which is a big if, I think Schenn is better. |

If he could reign it in a bit, he could actually development into a nice player. Who (Gudas)New? |

What are you, or anyone willing to pay him to see if he can develop? |

It's early yet to think about re-signing a guy like that. But he'd be inexpensive I feel like. He's looked better than I thought he would minus the asinine pinches and occasional butchering. |

I think Luke is fine as #6. He does a lot of good things on the ice, but always seems to have a gaffe or two. I'd like to see them stay with him for an extended stretch with MDZ or Medvedev.
I remember his one good season here was with Timonen. I know Timonen can make anyone look better, but I thought Luke really did have a decent season. Put him with a puck mover and see how he does. - PhillySportsGuy
remember how good he was in the stretch of that non playoff season when timonen went down? upset a lot of the draft lovers in here |

He is an RFA so you can play that leverage card, but if you want to sign him to a multi year deal, you're looking at around 3M a year. |

Don't know yet. He's only played 6 games. He's also a rfa, so I'm not really in a hurry.
If you really want a number, I'd say I'd offer between $1.5-$2M for 1 year. But, again, I wouldn't offer anything yet. |

Finally Vinny draws back into the lineup! We are saved... - Hextall271
Regardless of what he does, it won't be enough.
Scores a hat trick, back to the press box until the next injury
Plays poorly, we all get validation on his skill
Hoping for the hatty! |

It's what everyone points to. He LED the Flyers (along with Kimmo) in competition quality that year all while posting terrific possession numbers. Is that just Kimmo effect in large part? Sure but I think Luke played well too. He needs to be paired with someone with poise. Secondly, stop forcing him to walk on egg shells like he has since last year. Guy just doesn't look confident. Then net a 2nd round pick when he plays well! We all win. |

That was a bad year. After every loss, one segment would complain about the team. After every win, another segment would complain about losing out on Seth Jones.
Anyway, yeah, that was Schenn's best year. I was actually feeling OK about the JVR trade after that season. |

Vinny scoring a hat trick would be a nice problem to have. |

Getting to 4th in the 2013 draft would have been difficult. But I wish we could have got up high enough to take Ristolianen, who's now a 21 year old RHD leading his team in ice time. |

$2M/per seems about right, like Emelin's 2nd deal -- that's assuming he continues to play well next to MDZ in a top-4 role. |

I would try like hell to negotiate a deal with Raffl right now though. Based on last offseason's deals and his slow start in the goal scoring department maybe you can save a little. |

Ah, I read that as, "Getting to 4th would have been difficult, but I wish we could have done it to pick Risto." My bad. |

I seriously doubt that Gudas would sign a multi year deal for 2M a year. You could get him on a one year deal for that, but his next multi year deal , he could be giving up UFA years.
Emelin was in a different situation, he was older, and his second deal was coming off of a 1 year EL deal. |

Leacavalier will be on the 4th line LW for some reason I cannot decipher. If you don't want him at center, why not put White there and put Vinny on the RW where he played last season?

Props to the reporter who asked the right questions, but Hakstol wasn't giving any detailed answers. |

Since Hakstol likes to roll 4 lines with regularity, my guess is he'd rather accommodate the 2 players he feels comfortable rolling than the spot start guy who probably will get replaced in certain shifts by another more responsible player. It doesn't make a ton of sense to me, but I also don't expect him to play much. |

Yup. Also he may want Vinny on his forehand in the D zone, he needs all the help he can get. Offensively, VDV will be expected to do the corner work while Vinny likely tries to find some open space in the middle. Either way, I really doubt he gets more than 8-9 minutes max at ES. |
