There are things I like about Hakstol and there are things I really dislike. I'm seeing signs of Berube in him. With this said, I don't view Hakstol as the game changer Hitchcock or Laviolette from the moment they got here. - SuperSchennBros

Thats the third time I saw that you posted this, and I still disagree..
Bellemare isnt the glue that holds this "fragile" team together. He plays hard, he certainly is a boost to the PK, but losing him didnt crush the team. They just played like poop from start to finish. Team defense was horrid. Despite their points, both Schenns played pretty brutal games. Gudas played the rover position tonight, but instead of jumping up to play offense he was just looking to kill someone. Unsuccessfully I may add. Whole game was ugly and frustrating. Glad we got at least a point. If it werent for an unreal save by Johnson in OT we eek out a win. - jak521
Well that's interesting because I posted this twice. I never said Bellemare was the glue that held up together. Bellemare went down and though we started flat, Hakstol had to throw on the ice different looks that I don't believe improved us, through no fault of his own. |

Yea Laviolette was a total game changer from the moment he got here. Especially against the Caps in big blow out by the Flyers. Killed the caps. |

Medvedev also turned the puck over twice on the 1st goal, and then Ennis got around Giroux as well. Ennis is a good player who made a great individual effort, but as soon as that happened I knew it was going to be a long night. |

Was Lavi's first game the one where Carcillo got the 29-minute penalty? |

For as outworked as they were, they still could have won the hockey game.
I thought the Ennis goal was straight up luck. He could try that nonsense 100 times and it only goes in once. - johndewar
It's still a bad goal by Mason allowed. If Michael Leighton allows the same type of goal, we all give an even more harsh reaction. |

the Flyers are a lesser team - vejim
Ditto!
Very disappointing showing last night. The proportion of time in D-zone to time in other 2 zones was simply unacceptable.
Jake is becoming detrimental to the success- he needs to score soon. |

What should Mason have done differently to prevent the goal being scored? |

I hope Hakstol does show signs of Berube. When Berube first took over for Laviolette, he guided the Flyers to one of the best records in the NHL the rest of the season over that time span. |

I believe it was.. if not the first, definitely within the first week. Point is, the season is young, Hakstol has done a pretty good job so far. Give him time. |

How short sited can one person be? Your talking about game one, in a season where we not only dug ourselves a huge hole under John Stevens bit manage to climb out of it and get ti a Stanley Cup Final. Yeah but let's focus on the first game with little time to install a brand new system... |

That was puck luck. His positioning was fine. I was 6 rows off the ice, right along the goal line, so I had a pretty good view of it. |

Someone once attempted to slap me on the back while I was doing that, but it merely glanced off my shoulder...my face still froze in that contorted way for about an hour. That's why I scroll past certain avatars.

One thing I didn't realize because, I admit, I didn't see all that much of him in Colorado, but Ryan O'Reilly reminds me a bit of Keith Primeau. Big, strong guy that moves well and is hard on the puck. Good on faceoffs, even though I thought he got away with a lot last night on the dot. |

Medvedev got knocked off the puck on the half wall, but he never really had possession of it behind the net. |

Well, Mason said he would not have played it any differently. I wonder if any poster that has played goalie would provide any comments on that? |

I think he was being a bit facetious. But the Flyers did start out 2-7-1 in Lavi's first 10 games here. |

I just think it's one of those seeing eye goals that found a hole. If a shot is taken from the same spot again on the back hand, it isn't going in 99 out of 100 times. |
