I think he was being a bit facetious. But the Flyers did start out 2-7-1 in Lavi's first 10 games here. - jmatchett383
Which to me makes Laviolette's climb back even more impressive. |

It was as lucky as lucky gets. Sorry you feel otherwise.

I think the majority would feel different if it were a different goalie. In fact I'm positive of this. |

I was troubled by Girgensons (sp) comments that they studied films of Mason's 5 hole, that's why he elected to shoot.

It sure does. I don't think going 2-7-1 to starts constitutes him being a "game changer from the moment he got here." |

Perhaps if that goal was let in for the winning Stanley Cup goal in OT, the majority might feel differently. |

They also had to win a shootout in the last game just to get into the playoffs. |

Every goalie has a weakness that teams try and exploit. |

Thats my whole point fella. Youre harping on Hakstol, and we're 3 weeks into the season. - jak521
So I wasn't responding to criticism made by Feanor of our new Coach? I haven't seen basic mistakes like having Manning and Del Zotto paired against Benn and Seguin, although the pair allowing two goals Hakstol continued to put the pair out there against possibly the best top line in the league? I haven't seen Hakstol continue dressing Manning over Luke Schenn who's only real bad game was last night but still equaled to two assists? So I'm not seeing Raffl on the first PP over and over without adjustments when it's clearly not working?
How much time does a guy need to make such small adjustments? I have concerns and I have the right to voice them and I am. |

What I liked about Laviolette in terms of being a game changer was his ability to use his time out and he was talking. Constantly Coaching. If you remember the Flyers had trouble with Laviolette's system. When I say instant, it's safe to say your taking the term too literal. I don't think there is a Coach in the world who can change the habits of a team in a day. Positive results to that season happened and they happened quick enough for the team to climb into a playoff position. |

Maybe the Sabres have had poor records the past few seasons because they're overly concerned about watching extensive video of what's between men's legs. |

So how many games do we give Hakstal until we see the results and changes? It took Laviolette 10 games with a far more talented roster (especially on the back end) to get the team going. Can we at least give Hakstal that many? Otherwise, it would seem unfair, right? Going 4-2-2 over 8 games for a rookie head coach with bottom-5 league defense makes me think he's not the awful coach you make him out to be. |

HHOF or not, Jeanerette is terrible. Almost as much of a Homer as Edwards and his voice in general is just painful. It's like a turkey with a mouth full of marbles imitating a dying cat. - jmatchett383
I can't stand listening to him personally. When I saw the Centre ice feed was Buffalo I cringed.. |

Meh , he is terrible, he kept using Manning and Del Zotto against Benn and Seguin.
I like many things he has done so far including NOT playing roulette with the lines over and over, giving them time over an extended period to jell, not only with the new system but with each other. Except for the fact he used Manning and Del Zotto against Benn and Seguin. Did you know he did that?! Used Manning and Del Zotto against Benn and Seguin?

What I think is funny here is, how people think there shouldn't be criticism of a new Coach. I've explained what I haven't like so far while commenting on a post that showed some of my same concerns. Dave Hakstol won't get fired based on my word and I like how he has them playing as one unit for the most part but there are adjustments he can make in game and not wait 10 games in doing so. |

I just think it's one of those seeing eye goals that found a hole. If a shot is taken from the same spot again on the back hand, it isn't going in 99 out of 100 times. - MJL
I also don't think that's why we lost. We were getting outplayed for long stretches hemmed into our own end by a supposed bottom feeder team.. |

Context.....no one here thinks the coach is above criticism...you on the other hand....
Did you know he had Manning and Del Zotto out against Benn and Seguin?

The most impressive thing is that aside from one game.. We have been completely competitive. Yes, we are 4-2-2 against pretty good competition. Last night wasnt pretty, but again we hung in there, and damn near eeked out a win.

Exactly my point. The Dallas game is still fresh in my mind.
You also made a great point about line combos. Even when Couturier was healthy, Couturier and Laughton's wingers continued to change. At this point we were 6 games in. |

Speaking of lines, I'm guessing if Coots is ready to go, Umberger goes the the 4th line out of necessity?
