Thing is hakstoll could make changes. Then people complain they can't find chemistry. He is letting them try to figure it out, now people want change. I think the biggest problem is the roster is just wrong. You kind of have to just let them play this out. When you have to rely on raffl as a top line forward you know the roster is a little wrong. Raffl with laughton and read/Umber get would be a great third line. Create offensive chances but be defensivly good as well. I think after this TDL and off-season you'll start to see the roster to to get more organized into a better shaping roster. |

Actually against Dallas, in Florida and last night were all bad games. - SuperSchennBros
Dallas wasn't a bad game. They played well and held one of the best offensive teams in the NHL to two goals. |

Context.....no one here thinks the coach is above criticism...you on the other hand....
Did you know he had Manning and Del Zotto out against Benn and Seguin?
(though I admit that was a head scratcher) - MBFlyerfan
Not that he has them out there but continued to do so even after they scored twice on us due to costly mistakes. |

8 games in to his NHL coaching career, Hakstol has the team in a playoff position. - MJL
Yeah I'm looking forward to playoff Hockey in November. Montreal until last night should have went 82-0 on the season. |

They did shot wise, but that's not all there is to a game. They competed and skated hard, where as I did not think they did so last night. I look at the overall picture, and I wouldn't consider that game a bad game. Dallas is a high powered potent offensive team. |

What I think is funny here is, how people think there shouldn't be criticism of a new Coach. I've explained what I haven't like so far while commenting on a post that showed some of my same concerns. Dave Hakstol won't get fired based on my word and I like how he has them playing as one unit for the most part but there are adjustments he can make in game and not wait 10 games in doing so. - SuperSchennBros
Criticism is fine, but when you are talking about being a "game changer" right off the bat like Lavi...well, he's got a far less talented team than Lavi had an has them winning more games. I just think that was an unjustified statement.
Does he have flaws that need correcting? Absolutely. Is pointing out those flaws okay? Of course. No one's saying he can't be criticized, but the guy has not been this terrible coach you are drawing a picture of. |

Oh come on now. Dave Hakstal has shown in 8 NHL games that he's unable to adapt at all and will fail as an NHL coach. |

I agree the effort was better against Dallas but we were still outplayed at even strength which was evident and out match ups were the worst I've seen within these 8 games, which is a Coaching error, which is why I chock it up to a bad game.
3 bad games out of 8, not bad but I'd still like to see improvement. |

For whatever it's worth, Dallas is just a flat-out far better team than the Flyers. |

Raffl had good success on the 1st line last season so I'm OK with giving him more time there.
But that doesn't mean he should be on the top PP unit as well. Brayden Schenn is a much better option as evidenced by the 19 PPP he had there last season, and the excellent 6 on 5 goal he scored last night. |

I guess I'll have to wait to see in game adjustments. Like taking a time out and ripping into our team to wake up. Something within this manner, but of course in his own style. |

And I know I will get ripped for this but last night's first goal is what frustrates me with Mason. I know goalies will give up so ones. But he just seems to do it at the worst time. I know what he's done for the flyers. Just very frustrating and the reason I think he is OK but not elite. - J35Bacher
He should really save his soft goals for when they're ahead by 4 |

We lost by a goal, and one of the Dallas' goals was on a bouncing puck. Yes, Manning should not have been matched up against Benn/Seguin, and Schenn should have been playing that game. But who's to say that Schenn, or any of our bottom-4 defensemen, would have had better success? I don't think we "handed them" that game at all. |

My point is that you said he isnt the game changer Hitchcock and Laviolette were. Its 3 weeks into a season and we are 4-2-2... points in 6 of 8 games.. against really good overall teams. |

One thing I do like is the fact he's not running to the first PP unit every time there is penalty against the other team. Other players are getting offensive chances. Guys like Gagner, Schenn and Del Zotto need this to be productive. |

He (and I) were directing our comments to your one comment about Lavi and Hitchcock's start compared to Hakstal's. No one on this team, player or coach or GM, is above criticism. |
