I have never criticized Johnson and have no problem with him playing until Lehner heals.
But the blog leaves me scratching my head.
"The much maligned(for some reason)... .909 sv %."
I am lost. His save percentage for the season according the nhl.com is .884. His save percentage last night with 22 saves on 25 shots is .880.
So I am both confused as to where you get the .909 number and why you don't understand the reason he is much maligned.
Again, I am fine with Johnson and never complained about him or wanted TM to run out and get another goalie. But I understand why others do. It is no mystery. It is because his actual save percentage is much lower that the one you provided, and because he lets in some soft goals at bad times.

Continued from last blog, sorry but just needed to be said,
Perhaps because it's not his alt?
- stashu
Thank you Stash.
Not sure why I would need an "alt" besides for bans, but anyway.
I don't plan on getting any more bans either so I will not need my one "alt" (very rarely used, may have 5 posts) .
But you are of course free to continue on with whatever agenda you have.
That said, I hope you have a splendid day. |

My take...for what its worth
Johnson let in a stinker but rebounded very nicely
McCabe had a few hiccups, but he play amazing the rest of the night
I was iffy on the Eichel/Reinhart/Larrson line, but I think that is because Eichel was trying to play by himself until the 3rd period
Reinhart looked incredibly confident last night, he is finally showing skating and puck moving skills he's renowned for
I think Delorian on a line with Ennis and O'Riley is a good thing, but he needs a game or two more to sync with them
AND boy am I happy Lioneater got the poopmonkey off his back |

Thoughts from last night:
Chad Johnson only let in 1 bad goal last night and does not get credit for the 3 great saves he made. 1 in the second and 2 in the third if I remember correctly. 2 out of three easily could have been goals. I still want a better goalie, but I digress.
I liked our teams willingness and ability to bring to game to Philly. It's ultimately why we got the W. We got into penalty trouble and sat back during the second, but once they got their confidence back they took over the game. Yes Philly had the late goal but they earned it by moving the puck well.
I really liked O'reilly's tenacity in the OT. Really battled and showed what he can do from a puck possession standpoint.
I was starting to worry about Girgensons role on this team. That goal was huge.
We have several liability defencemen. That sucks right now and there's not a whole lot we can do about it.
edit: Starting to love Risto's game. |

Two posters write equal lengths breakdowns at the same time basically saying the same things. Glad were on the same page. This poop is SOOOO much better than tanking. |

Last night's game reminded me why I love hockey so much. It was a great game all around. Very competitive on both sides of the puck. |

Not sure about the .909 season save percentage, but he actually made 30 saves last night on 33 shots; Michael's 22 on 25 was in err

aside from the 3rd period vs the bolts at home, and the hab implosion from johnson
the team is so much more competitive then last year
you can see how quickly the gap has shrunk and now it's just the old excuse "if they could bury the puck"
special teams, goalie and the d still scares me a bit
bogo may fix most of the d issues |

There are other teams/players that are having a harder time burying the puck than we are. They keep playing like they did yesterday and good things will happen. |
