I didn't forget a single part of that trade. Guaranteeing that Jamie McGinn is getting traded at the deadline is asinine. There's a lot of variables in that equation, and as I see it, they're anybody's guess at this point. - TheSabresTaco
Kinda sounded like you did seeing as you only compaired 2 players from both sides of the deal and left out compher. And unless we are making a playoff run, then it would be asanine to keep him past the deadline seeing that he is a pending UFA.. |

I don't blame ya. The Avs are terrible and I don't think anyone even knows why. Goal tending? Defense? Dutch? Points aren't being put up on the board unless your name is MacKinnon. I'm glad he's bouncing back from last year.
Was the 2013-14 season an enigma? I mean I can't even look at that team and point at the problem. I'm legit curious to know what an Avs fan sees.
We at least have excuses to our short comings, but at the time being the arrow is pointing up. All I see is wheels spinning in Denver.
Saying that, I don't blame you at all for hating hockey. I would too. |

I compared all the NHL parts for the short term. There's going to be a long time until the trade can be fully analyzed. At this point, we certainly have the better players.
Why would it be so bad to hold onto him? Murray may see him as a future component on this team. He's an excellent top 9 players and can jump around the lineup, utility style. He plays hard. If Murray is interested in resigning him, he won't trade him, even if we are out of the playoffs this season. Not like we were projected to make the playoffs anyways. We're projecting in the right direction, and he may very well be a part of the future of this team. |

It starts and stops with Patrick Roy, avalanche fans are asking, is he putting his players in the best scenarios to succeed, and its becoming clear that he isnt.
His "system" or lack of one is really hurting the team, they dont have an identity anymore and some of the guys they just signed like Soderberg (who is finally starting to look solid) and Comeau are system guys. If the coaching is weak, their play will be weak.
All the talent is there, just coaching has to be tailored to his players, and not trying to force his talent to be something they are not |

Some people get a little butthurt about what we gave up. I don't need the "long term projection" lecture, but if we manage to get the best two players in the deal, then it'll end up being quite a nice trade for us. I'll take McGinn over Grigs any day. If Zadorov manages to develop into a top 4 guy, I'll still take O'Reilly's talent over his. - TheSabresTaco
I highly doubt Jaime McGinn for 1 year will end up being better than Nikita Zadorov.
Either way, O'Reilly is 99% the best player in the deal. |

So it's fair to talk about Zadorov being scratched or Grigs doing little, because that's the present situation, but unfair to point out the nonexistent players in the Kane deal who are currently hurt.

How does a guy like Roy get a team to overachieve in one season and bomb out the next season + the following season's first 10 games? Doesn't make any sense. |

not sure where you're steering this discussion. It sounds like a trap though, so I'm not diving in.
And no, McGinn may possibly be here more than one year. |

Bc the vast majority of his core that season (ROR, MacK, Dutch, Barrie, EJ, and Varly) all had career years. even guys like McGinn and McLeod had huge numbers for them. They had situation that everything went right and all the puck luck was on their side.

No not a trap. Just don't get the skewed logic sometimes.
I think Colorado assumed that the 20 and 22 year Olds might take a little time |

He could command a big price ticket as a UFA, hes already making 3m, could easily be making close to 5m, dont think hes worth that, especialyl when you have your own home grown talent to worry about |

So it truly was overachieving.
Time for a new coach I guess? If this season bombs. I mean, you can't possibly be getting this kind of garbage production out of your big guys. It's not even funny. |

He has a 4 year coaching contract, this is year 3 of it. So who knows, it could be Patrick Roy no matter what next year |

True. I see Justin Bailey or Nick Baptiste taking his role in a year or two. At the moment, he certainly is a nice complimentary player. I guess we'll see what Murray thinks of him come the deadline. |

If he you guys are being a bubble playoff team contender, he will be a needed cog to try and push for a spot so he stays, if you skunk it up in the 2nd half, it will be selling off pieces time.
