I could see the Sedins signed to a one year deal or two if they keep producing at a decent rate. Burrows and Hamhuis' team Canada days are long past and the league is getting ever faster as they are slowing down. I like all their contributions over the years but like you said...there comes a time and that time is soon. - LordHumungous
Plain and simple Hamhuis is going to be looking for a 4-5 year extension , his last kick at the can. There are so many good young D out there and that is who we should be targeting. Our next Hutton. |

I do like Hamhuis I just don't want a guy that is slowing down extended for more years. Burrows played for Canada at the worlds , I don't want him extended either, and when the Sedins contract runs out I don't want them extended. Everyone has a shelf life. - VANTEL
we trade him at the deadline and then resign him for a year in the offseason... rinse and repeat for 3 seasons... same with burrows and Sedins... until they tell us they are going to retire and then we keep em' and have em' retire as Canucks. |

Again Hamhuis won't sign with Canucks for one year. He wants security. I don't believe Benning wants to pay 5 mil for him either otherwise I think he would have been extended by now. Benning seems to be really behind the youth movement and tougher players.
I think next year is a buying year for Canucks. We need to wait 2 years for Boeser , and players like Brisboise and Neill 3 years. I am sure Benning will free up cap space and buy next year. That will mean moving Vrbata Hamhuis and maybe more. |

I think it will be like when ohlund left. Similar circumstance. I think it is time to move on as well without him. |

I am positive Hamhuis and Vrbata will not be here after the trade deadline and we will get 2nds for both of them... maybe a first for Hamhuis if he agrees to resign with... lets say.... Tampa.

I would target BC boy Jordie Ben next year at 1.3 for two years as a number 6 D
Luke Schenn at around 4 for 3 years for a RHD , decent shot can fight. Defensive skills need working on.
And if Schultz is available , I would target him also .
You can have youth , grit , offensive skill for the PP . You could fit all three in for Vrbata and Hamhuis cap space |

Schultz made no impact in Edmonton. Why do you like him?

He is having a decent year. When you are surrounded by losing , you will soon lose also. The kid has great offensive skills and with a reliable D partner like Hutton I think he would be a lot better. I know he is a gamble but I think on Canucks his career would have been a lot different up to know. Forwards that back check make a Dmans job a lot easier.
High Risk high reward |

Worst Hockey names ever: Non-Canuck Category: Larry Playfair and Jonathan Quick.
Worst Canuck name: Dana Murzyn. At one point we has a Dana and an Adrian on our D. |

Ha! Just bored and terrorizing Leaf posters just is not fair game anymore.
There was one point in the 80s where the Canucks had three players with Female names... Dana, Adrian Accoin and I cannot rememeber the third! Driving me crazy!

If Schultz is available, I think he could be a buy-low situation. If they are willing to spend $4m over 3 years on Schenn, and 1.3 to 29 year old [as of next season] Benn, I would rather combine those salaries and give Hamhuis what he wants. At least for the next 3 years, Hamhuis can be in your second pairing, we need less 5-7 defensemen |

If you want to keep your PP at the bottom of the league then yes Hamhuis is a good keep. |
