Oh he's here. Right now he's giving a slide show to Danny Briere about how he was able to structure the Vinny contract and the process that went into the signing. Required material for the course are a pair of orange sunglasses, a large bag of popcorn, and a copy of Holmer's excel flyers cap sheet with the columns listed as "2013-14", "2014-15", and "cross that bridge when we get to it" - Just5
The day will come, when he rides off into the sunset.
Personally, I just hope its on a bicycle. |

Maybe. But at this point they have to know that Manning (frank)ing blows. - Nucker101
I don't think he blows, I just think he is what he is. A AHL/NHL tweener that is at best a 6/7 |

Guess we're seeing different things. He looks like an AHL player who's in over his head.
Manning will help us get a higher pick though |

He gets a 500k signing bonus so could be traded and save a team 2 million. Not a significant number in terms of the total salary of NHL teams, but certainly important. A team trying to stay below the cap floor probably cares little about getting a guy to "help you win" Vinny is still a vet with tons of experience and has class. Could help that way.
If I am arizona...I would absolutely consider him next year over resigning guys like John Scott and Boyd Gordon. They have a ton of money to be allocated (Stone and Murphy will be given a good amount though) - YuenglingJagr
if I am Arizona I sign real players who can help my team....vinny is not that player |

He has been in over his head. He's been playing too many minutes, and at times on his off side. |

I am pro Manning. For the simple fact that he is an unknown.
I'd rather watch a guy like that instead of someone you know is 100% a turd.

I guess. I've seen enough personally. I'd rather have Gudas, Schenn and the Russian all playing over him. |

I'd be down for something with a target or red cross on it.
Just so its clear for the other team. The times that guy has been run during his experience with the Flyers, and without the team coming to defend him is disturbing.

Agreed. Sometimes I think they should have just re-signed Emery, at least he had a pair.

Out of the players listed to possibly hit UFA market, I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Jagr back. |

I'm not Bill, but I'll take a stab.
I think it's way to early to tell and, until he gets some better players, very hard to judge. Scotty (frank)ing Bowman would have a hard time winning with this crew. - BiggE
I'm not asking to judge him based on the players. I'm asking about the systems and policies he's putting in place. Do they make sense? |

Way too soon to tell. He has done some good things -- running a solid training camp, for starters -- and some things that have left himself open to second-guessing. We'll see how the team evolves in the months to come. Until then, I don't think it's fair to pass judgment one way or the other.
That said, I think the team on the ice so far looks a whole lot like it did under Craig Berube, which is perhaps to be expected. - bmeltzer
I'm just curious about the initial gut impressions. When you're evaluating anything in life, you'll have those initial thoughts. So far, I like what I've seen from Hakstol his players just have been disappointing. |
