I didnt stay up last night to watch the game, but I noticed that Laughton and Simmonds were each -3. Were they really that bad or was it just one of those things?

Vinny was weighing down that line from the bench. Vinny was also weighing down his line by playing in the offensive zone.

Simmonds turned a puck over for the first goal. Second one was at 4-on-4 and started with one of the few faceoffs Laughton lost in the game but wasn't otherwise on him. Third one was Manning's miscue. Laughton made a good backcheck effort but didn't quite catch up to Virtanen.

What bugs me most is Simmonds was put into a tough situation in the neutral zone, with a tough pass, and pressure right on him. Turnovers happen, but it was then compounded by Simmonds who stopped skating, reached for a puck, and then further failed to make a second effort to back check. That's the difference between winning and losing.

because it's true. not that mason has been bad. just not as consistent every night. to be fair, he's had no margin of error, and that's a tough burden for any starting goalie.
