I want these stiffs gone this summer if no trade can be made. I'm not waiting any longer. Stiffs need to be unloaded. AMac isnt a dman I want on a contender. Bury Rj in the minors. Again, Anaheim and Nashville are two teams that keep plugging along and they've made cost cutting moves along the way with no problems (Pronger, suter) - Just5
That requires drafting |

currently - the coyotes
to a team that needs to reach the cap floor he is worth paying less than his cap hit - YuenglingJagr
they will not pay him millions of dollars. why pay him 3mm in or whatever it is for a useless player when they can go sign guys who you know could possibly contribute. |

Vinnys salary is much less than his cap hit at this point. So while he isnt worth his cap hit, he could be worth his salary - YuenglingJagr
Unless his salary is 600K, no he's not.

Even at that, I still think he is untradeable. |

This is a 23 man Flyers roster for 16-17 which includes Vinny, but lets Raffl and Medvedev go. Even using ELCs wherever possible it would be over a cap of $72m, and the cap might not even be that high.
Giroux ~ 8.275
Voracek ~ 8.25
MacDonald ~ 5
Streit ~ 5.25
Umberger ~ 4.6
Lecavalier ~ 4.5
Mason ~ 4.1
Couturier ~ 4.33
BSchenn ~ 4
Simmonds ~ 3.975
MDZ ~ 3.875
Read ~ 3.625
Schultz ~ 2.25
Neuvirth ~ 1.625
Gudas ~ 2
Cousins ~ 1
Konecny ~ 0.925
Provorov ~ 0.925
Gostisbehere ~ 0.863
Laughton ~ 0.863
Leier ~ 0.7796
VandeVelde ~ 0.7125
Bellemare ~ 0.7125
TOTAL ~ 72.4356 - Feanor
Yeah, Canadian dollar still in the poopter. The cap probably isn't gonna budge much.
There's a few contracts there you'd hope they could trade at the TDL or over the summer... but yeah, it ain't gonna be easy w/ Amac, Vinny to work around.

No, I don't think so. I was going to mention Krug as a comparable.
Ghost might already be in the NHL if not for the knee injury. He's still only played 14 AHL games. - Feanor
Yep. That was unfortunate losing basically a full season of development. |

Anyone here get the feeling that Hextall and Hakstol are polar opposites?
Hexy is always preaching patience and to stay the course. Whereas Hakstol is juggling the line up on a game to game basis. I understand GM and coach are 2 totally fundementally different positions , but the scratching if Medvedev was a bit puzzling to me. I know he hasn't played well the past couple games, but Manning over him?
I know coaches are in win now mode, and GMS are willing to go through slumps ans not make any drastic moves but can't Hakstol at least try and stick with his best players for a stretch? |

Do you think that the Pronger trade by Anaheim and Suter leaving as a top free agent is comparable to the situation with the Flyers concerning Umberger and Lecavalier? - MJL
Bobby Ryan leaving is another one. Was that a hockey trade or a cap trade?
How long are you willing to watch an inferior product on the ice for the purpose of cap flexibility years down the line?
I could go one more year after this with amac I guess. But after next year amac is pretty much sure to be not one of our best 6 or 7 dmen. 5 million dollar scratch and no trade to be had even if you eat half the deal. No one pays that much for a 6/7 |

Yeah, pretty much.
I'm really hoping that some point between now and July, he realizes that he just can't play NHL hockey any more and he retires. If wants to wait until after he gets his 500K bonus in July, that's fine, carrying one year of 500K in dead cap space is no big deal.

Scratching a guy who is trying to adjust to a new league, language and rink size for one game is no big deal and could benefit him in the long run. Now if Medvedev is scratched tonight, that would piss me off. |

Thankfully I fell asleep midway through the 2nd period. Looks like I didn't miss anything. So, without Couturier, they are 0-3-1, with him they are 4-2-1.
Yeah, he's not a valuable player.
- BiggE
He has 1 goal, two assists, and is a -1. That doesn't seem like a valuable contributor to me.

That's all I'm asking. After that, you are looking at 3 years, 15 million. Even if you have to retain 2 million per, you will be able to move him at that point. There will be teams willing to take AMac for 3 years at 3 mil per season. |

Why? He's a 32 year-old AHLer. Can he really make a difference? |

In your view, when do you think the Flyers will be a top team, and ready to compete for the Cup, next season, or in future seasons in later years? When do you think it will be more beneficial to have that cap flexibility, next year, or in future years?
It's amazing how the patience that is needed for this team, and allowing Hextall to implement his plan, is running out on Nov. 3rd. |

I agree, we all know he's not going to live up to that contract, but at least in my opinion, he's still a solid NHL defenseman. |

It's possible, but if they do that I think they would want to give Medvedev an extension to take over his role. |

Since when is contributing the point of that. Does Chris Pronger contribute? Last 2 seasons Vinny has had a 2 million dollar bonus paid on July 1st. with 6 million due after this season and a salary of 9 million...it definitely makes sense for a team/owner trying to save money. |

They really can't right now, unless they want to trade him, or put him through waivers and bring up another player. (not MacDonald) |

I do wonder, though, if there's any cap floor dollars left for cap ceiling teams like the Flyers to take advantage of. Teams went hard after it over the last year. |

Along with the cap hit for Pronger, a team also gets a roster exemption for him. That won't be the case with Lecavalier, and he'll have to be on the active roster. |

Wouldn't Hexy have already explored salary-retained trades prior to waiving/demoting him? I'm thinking it was likely that nobody wanted AMac, even at half price.
