I'm probably going to get stoned by the majority (have stones thrown at me) but my view of Vinny really hasn't changed. I'm perfectly fine with him sittting until we've had a couple injuries, then I believe he should play. I was less than impressed by him on the fourth line but last night, I didn't think he was less terrible then anyone else, aside from his skating. Even with his slow stride, I still saw him get in on the forcheck. I saw him make a couple hits that successfully separated a player from the puck, which created O zone time for his line. I thought Schenn, Gagner and Lecavalier created the most offensive chances. It's amazing how a player can look when playing with more talented players.
With this said I'm not starting a partition for him to stay. I like anyone else look forward to Vinny, Umberger and Mac's deals are over.
I overall believe this team is bad |

A partition would be very divisive.

(frank) they are such a pile of poop.
How Holmgren still is employed by the organization is sickening. |

Who cares? The salary will be lower than cap number with him on the team. That's literally the only thing that matters. I understand it severely limits the number of teams he can go to, but the value in that is undeniable - YuenglingJagr
they will still have to pay him 3mm per year no? that is a waste when you can actually pay a real nhl player who can help your team. so you have a 4.5 cap hti and paying him 3mm? not a huge savings. |

He gets a 500k signing bonus so could be traded and save a team 2 million. Not a significant number in terms of the total salary of NHL teams, but certainly important. A team trying to stay below the cap floor probably cares little about getting a guy to "help you win" Vinny is still a vet with tons of experience and has class. Could help that way.
If I am arizona...I would absolutely consider him next year over resigning guys like John Scott and Boyd Gordon. They have a ton of money to be allocated (Stone and Murphy will be given a good amount though) |

We already unloaded Pronger on them. Maybe we burden them with the Pronger/Vinny/AMac/Umberger quartet somehow. |

Their not bringing up young players now. So your last point is false - Just5
No, it's not false. What makes you think they want to bring up young player now, or that they think they're ready? Unless I'm mistaken, I thought we were talking about buying out Lecavalier next off season, and looking at future roster moves? Rather than looking at current roster moves. So how does not calling up young players now, prove that stating not buying out Lecavalier next off season, won't stop the flyers from calling up young players next season, prove false? |

They brought up Straka and Cousins last season, so those young players did not get any less ready. This season they can not afford to call up any young player apart from Pettersson because they only have $670,001 in cap space. |

What does that have to do with next season and how buying or not buying out Lecavalier will affect what they can do next season.? Those players were called up as injury replacements. |
