I don't think LA would trade Muzzin straight up for Simmonds anyway. A mediocre even strength power forward is not more valuable than a top pair d man. Just going to have to agree to disagree about Muzzin. He's only 200 games into his NHL career, and is already Doughty's wingman -- and his play is great independent of Doughty. He tore up WC and Doughty didn't even attend. He is a player to keep tabs on in the next couple seasons to see if his development keeps moving forward - Mononoke
Shows what 169 games worth of AHL pixie dust can do for a dman's development.
- The Flyers are the worst team ever
- Voracek and Giroux should be traded now
- Couturier is a valid 2nd line center
- Couturier is not a valid 2nd line center
- Jake Muzzin is a fantastic top-pairing defenseman
- CF% and such

So, when paired with an elite guy like Doughty, Muzzin makes him worse?
Actually, seems like all of the defensemen minus Ehrhoff and Martinez are better without him. - jmatchett383
Usage. First of all sample sizes are in question: he's only played 25 min with Doughty (Muzzin I mean). Plus Doughty could be getting harder competition. Numbers need context.
Here is all of last year for Muzzin With/Without. If your eyes don't bleed initially look at Muzzin's stats without Doughty, and pretty much every d man and player. They improve. Don't interpret as being better without; just as being able to hold his own.http://stats.hockeyanalys...ue&season=2014-15&sit=5v5

He was an unheralded fifth round pick later to develop. Isn't the first, won't be the last; everyone has their own development schedule. He's an exception, a diamond in the rough. Wish the Flyers could boast of having one. Maybe Manning can be our Muzzin....

Yes, he is a good complimentary player. I don't consider him a "top pair" player based on that. I apologize for not having the same opinion as everyone else.
Also: I wasn't the one who introduced that chart, I was simply reading and interpreting (purely analytically) what was presented to me. I apologize.

It's only a matter of time until Terrance Amorosa starts racking up the Norris Trophies.
McDavid lost his edge on his own... Not sure if Manning falling on top caused the break. Also, thought it was odd that McDavid sat on the bench for the final few shifts of the period instead of heading right to the room.

No, he didn't cause the fall, although barreling into him on the boards (accidentally) probably didn't help. And yeah, I was surprised to hear he had a broken collarbone. Gotta give the guy credit for trying to stay in the game.
