Kid's already hurt. Guess the Flyers played a game over there that we missed - Jsaquella
You know... there might just be something about the Flyers and generational talents... Lindros' head, Forsberg's foot, Pronger's eye, McDavid's shoulder, Crosby's pride...

Completely agree.
Bure would score 60+ in todays game
People forget how great Fedorov was. He made Stevie Y play second fiddle. Should rename the Selke after him.
The other 3 arent close - KINGKENZO
I would say Federov was as good as Datsyuk defensively, though not asked to do as much in that ridiculous dynasty, but twice the offensive threat - in particular a far, far better sniper.
I will take issue with Selanne over Kane. Selanne surely more skilled, better regular season numbers - but has never consistently produced and taken team to heights when he was supposed to be the primary scoring threat for playoffs. Kane is the Hawks biggest goal scoring threat, and everyone knows when he is on the ice - yet time after time after time he scores clutch goals. It was incredible last year to see how quickly he came back to form in the playoffs after that long injury gap. He comes in and right away becomes his usual ppg self, and scores clutch goal after clutch goal...
so if the goal is to win Stanley cup rather than President's trophy, I would take 88. |

I think they're elite players and are being dragged down. As long as we can make a serious run in the next 7 years, which I think we can do given the course we're taking, I have no concerns with the age discrepancy - Just5
I don't think currently, that they're being dragged down. I think currently they're not playing like elite players. Part of the age descrepancy issue is not that Giroux and Voracek won't be elite players into their 30's. It's that prime years of their career will be wasted waiting for the rest of the team to catch up. That is already happening.

I don't. The core to me are the irreplaceable upper skilled guys who are unlikely to be moved, heavily relied on and leadership group of the team. To say Laughton is a core player is like saying Morin, Sanheim or Provorov are already core players. This is like saying Brayden Schenn and Couturier were core players from the moment they got here. I feel once Laughton has a role, produces regularly and becomes a leader in some fashion. Just my opinion, I might be wrong. - SuperSchennBros
I disagree that it's like saying that Morin, Sanheim or Provorov are already core players. They're not on the team currently, Laughton is. Laughton is still basically a rookie. It takes time for young players to develop into what they'll become. Laughton is absolutely part of the core going forward. He was a 1st round draft pick.

Okay. Is Brandon Manning a core player? He's a rookie. Is Brayden Schenn a core player now and was he when he got here? |

Anaheim struggling for the 2nd consecutive season on the PP.
Streit for Nick Ritchie? - PT21
Ooh, I like this.
Richie has very high upside. Hockey's Future went as far as to say his combo of size and skill is Lindros like. That said it might take a bit more than Streit but he's a kid I would definitely inquire about. |

General question: If you can leave out injuries and are starting a team today, would you take:
Pavel Bure or Alexander Ovechkin
Sergei Fedorov or Pavel Datsyuk
Peter Forsberg or Evgeni Malkin
Paul Kariya or Rick Nash
Teemu Selanne or Patrick Kane - jmatchett383

Flyers need a strong presence in the locker room. I'm not saying the locker room is bad or toxic or anything, nor am I suggesting Giroux can't get it done. On the contrary, I think they're one of the tightest knit groups in awhile. But what they need is someone in there that's gotta get them going while on the ice--because when they are in their droughts psychologically, like right now, they're not doing anything. |

Interesting interviews with Simmonds and Hakstol, with Simmonds saying they have to cut down on turnovers and Hakstol admitting he should have called time out in the 3rd after that icing.

I am thinking of their needs, and they must be aware their window is getting smaller - they took the eventual winners to 7 games last year and were unable to get over the hump. Thats been the story for a little while now. That series, their pp was much lower success rate than it was for them the rest of the playoffs (I think was about 20% that series -if it was better, Anaheim wins. Before that series it was smoking hot.).
Getzlaf,Perry,Kesler in their 30s, though just into, but still a lot of wear and tear on those guys. Its going to be 2 odd years at least before Richie becomes a proven contributor I would think.
Ok Streit seems silly, once I think about it. What about Simmonds for Richie with the youth movement? Also, Richie is a LW. And Simmonds will definitely help their pp. |

I was working in a house in Avalon during that game, kind of futzing around to watch the tail end of it. Guy who lived there was cool, huge Flyers fan.
When that goal went in, I heard him yell "(frank)!" and as he did, he fired his beer at the wall. The trouble was, he was about as accurate as Mitch Williams. The bottle hit his nice, big TV rendering it as useful as Brandon Manning on a NHL roster.
As he stood there in stunned silence, I offered a muffled "Have a good day, sir" and rolled out of Dodge - Jsaquella
you've shared this story before. i didn't remember it was that particular game though. that could've been me. i used to care like that. |

Bellemare.
I'd be open to Richards coming back though if he's healthy, sober, and ready to work. |
