don't think mason would get that much back TBH....don't completely disagree with you though he may have more value to the flyers than in a trade.
what do you think he could bring back? - rinaldo
I also don't know which teams are looking to add a $4.1m starting goalie right now. |

Well we certainly can't blame Holmgren. Who do we blame? The Easter Bunny? - PLindbergh31
I blame the person who signed and/or traded for the likes of Vinny, Amac and L Schenn (not that i dislike Schenn at all, just don't like that they gave up a guy who would look damn good as the first line LW right now.

The goalie market hasn't been strong for a few years now. There really isn't much demand around the league. The reward wouldn't be worth the risk. |

Suspended for what? Keeping a guy to the outside and both crashing into the boards? I though he played that decently well......just an unfortunate result. - nastyflyergirl

I would definitely be open to packaging Simmonds with a 2nd or NAK or Hagg to get a physical forward with improved puck handling skills, preferably a LW but I wouldn't rule out a C either. The puck looks like a goddamn grenade 50% of the time Simmonds has the puck anywhere outside of the goal mouth. - hereticpride
I honestly don't know what to think about Simmonds anymore
I see all the good and all the bad, and I admit that sometimes, I think selling high is the right way to go on him. But then I ask myself who is going to do what he does for them when he is going well
I don't envy Ron Hextall right now

Sadly, those three moves definitely influence today's roster more negatively than positively and in multiple ways

I think a 1st plus a prospect from a playoff team. He hasn't looked great to start the season but if he pulls it together again, a playoff team in need of a goalie could jump. Winnipeg comes to mind or even Calgary or Edmonton if they start competing for a spot.
So use Winnipeg as an example. So 1st in the late teens and early 20's plus say Jack Roslovic. None of that is top shelf but a Masonless flyers probably finish bottom 5. So you get a top line forward with the Flyes pick, hopefully another late 1st gem like Konecny with the Jets and a top notch middle forward prospect. |

It isn't wrong to want someone more consistent, right?
Even if they don't move him, I just miss having someone like Mike Knuble around during his first stint, where you kinda knew what you were going to get each and every night
The inconsistency on this team just depresses me |

Yeah. When he's not scoring, I'm not sure what else he brings, other than a physical edge. He is frustrating to watch some times. When his game is off, he looks really bad. When he is on offensively, he makes you forget his bad streaks. Kind of Hartnellish. |

Now, sure, but as the TDL approaches I'll bet there will be a few teams looking for help for their playoff run. |

Exactly two years ago I wanted to trade Simmonds for Kulikov. He had 5 points in 13 games at the time. But then Wayne flicked a switch and went on to score 60.
Hopefully that happens again, but I am OK with moving him if it's a situation where multiple contenders are bidding against each other and the Flyers make out like bandits. |

If we are finally stable in net, why would we trade Mason? Neuvirth has had a couple of good games, but has bounced around a lot. I'd like to move forward knowing at least one position is set. |

That's why I look to get a physical forward in return as oppose to something else. If they could somehow clear the cap room I would not mind Lucic here at all. Big physical LW that can manage the puck well enough to cement himself in the top 6. A move like that would balance out the lineup. Simmonds at 3rd line RW is great and all but Lucic would greatly improve our left side.

when you can't even call up a player due to the cap, well, that is a mess. Obviously Umberger is on Hextall but at least that contract is done after next season whereas Hartnell's deal goes on for 2 more years beyond that. |

I would still keep Mase. Nuevirth's knock is that he can never stay healthy and I haven't seen enough from Stolarz to feel confident about the move. |

the funny thing is the flyers have 5 guys making over 3mm per; Schultz at 2.2. that is bad; especially when you look at who they have back there.
how many other teams have that many guys making that much? |

I think trading Mase in 2017 if the Flyers decide not to extend him is a lot more likely. If he wants an extension then playing 50+ games and being at least .915 is the minimum level of performance required. |
