In fact, I would only make that deal if it was guaranteed that Staal was a rental. But it would have to be straight up, no other players/picks. - Stu17
You would have to give them something for absorbing the length of Browns contract. |

Wasn't aware that dumping Regehr and Greene in favor of McBain/Forbort/Ehrhoff was getting slower and bigger. - Jason_Lewis
Man, I just erased a whole novel of a retort in exchange for this simple version of how I rate our D on foot speed, mental speed (anticipation, balanced hesitation with quick decision making), and over all play ( not getting burned and outworked), using the old school grading system:
Erhoff C+ to B
McBain C+ to B
McNaab C- to C+
Martinez C
Muzzin C-
Forbort (Small sample size, but) C
Greene D+ to C-
and finally Jesus tap dancing Christ himself.... Drew MF-ing Doughty
You know I hate him, hell, everyone knows that... he is at times an awesome hockey player the last 5 games of last season is how he should play all of the time), but grossly over rated so I give him a B+. Now, knowing that everyone else in and around the league and fans alike would give him an A++ and want to just hand him the Norris trophy right now... I said trade his a$$ with brown for Eichel...
Without me going to a stat page... how many goals does Jesus Doughty have this season?

I think the Kings moving brown would be a huge mistake. Stick with what works. He is at best a third line player, and his no business being on the top line, but that doesn't mean trade away your Captain. I don't think its that easy. Especially when you are playing as well as we have been. DB was a big part of the cup winning nucleus, and I really think should retire with the team. He seems to get called out more then anyone else, especially when everyone looks the other way when Kopitar goes through that slump every year.. Some players dont show up until playoff time. That is when we need brown. |

If he would retire at the end of the season I would be happy to have him be a King for life! |

hey, that's what I said about the steen forearm, lol.
I didn't notice the upshall thing while watching the game. That's complete bush league. ugh. - stljam
I do remember Toffoli skating off at that point, but I didn't see the flying elbow. It looked kinda hilarious on the loop... |

You must be referring to the ducks current record and all the poop Perry has gotten away with in his career... |

Let Brown be a cautionary tale for Lombardi if he’s even thinking of offering Milan Lucic a long-term deal. You don’t give players whose game is primarily physical long-term contracts in their late twenties because they often times break down early in their 30’s just because of their style of play.
If the Kings can trade Brown then I wouldn’t necessarily be against that, but it’ll have to be a trade that makes sense. A lot of people think that they can fleece another team in a trade, but if Kings fans don’t want Brown I can’t understand why they think another team would want him. Everybody knows the struggles he’s had in recent years. I’m afraid that any trade of Dustin Brown will only involve another toxic contract coming back. Maybe you do it if it’s only toxic for fewer years than Dustin’s. |

Without Brown we don't get past Chicago two years ago, he was the best player on the ice for game 7. Hard to say how 2012 would have gone, but he was huge in the first three series as well.
Brown is an interesting player, he's not the best guy on the ice, but I don't think LA has two cups without him. |

Your comments are well-taken, but are you saying that the Kings should just bite the bullet and pay him for what he did two years ago? Don't forget that Toffoli gave the Kings a hometown discount when he re-signed last summer and I doubt like hell he'll be willing to do that again when his contrct expires, by which time they may have to pay him Kopitar money, too.
If the Kings end up buying out Brown, how will that affect their cap in coming years? Regardless of what he did in the past and whatever current leadership he provides the Kings, can you pay almost $6,000,000 for someone who's not going to break double digits in goals? |

In order to attempt and get Brown back on track. Someone needs to sit him down. And go over simplifying his game. And let him know he doesnt have to try so hard. He doesnt have to try and play like a superstar. Just needs to play a hard nosed game. He doesnt have to skate every puck into the offensive zone to only lose it because he stick handles like crap and cant stay on his skates. He needs to slow down. Ive loved Brown for as long as I can remember. But hes playing like someone you dont want on your team. |

Issue is. Why do you pay him so much damn money for basically what is a 50 point player. Its easier to swallow if he was actually playing like a 50 point player. He'd be lucky to get 20 points at this rate. |
