hence the part about 'up until around the holidays'... yeah, guys got burned out. Sedins should have stepped and filled him on how they were getting burnt. you can see it even now when WD tried to shorten the bench and they didn't have any gas at the end of games...
Sedins gotta let the coach know they want the time but they can't handle over the 17-18 minutes that A/V used to give them... turns out A/V knew at least one thing...

I think this should be an entertaining game. Eastern teams tend to play a more wide open game, which plays into the hands of the kids, they can skate and be slightly less defensively responsible.
Professional athletes are forever letting the coach know that they are getting too much playing time. "No thanks coach, I'm feeling kinda tired, you should probably play that other guy instead of me".
AV to Luongo "Lu, you up to play tonight?". Lu - "you know it coach" repeated 82 times per season. except AV knew better, and on 6 occasions he said "I don't want to do it, but you should take a break, we'll put Danny in tonight, but be ready just in case"

No Calder for McJesus I guess. In all seriousness hope he heals well and gets back soon. - docmorgan
I see this going two ways... 1. McCann is named the third (and useless) nominee for Calder or Mcpainpill will comeback ... not win the points race but clearly has the CBC blowing mega-farts about how much he battled to come back and it shows in a wide margin in points per game and he wins.

Martin Brochu comes to my mind
I was pretty lucky it came during a time where I really liked seeing new goalies, their masks and gear, so the carousel worked for me as a youngster - WhiteLie
The carousel started when they let Urbe go two seasons too soon.

I was feeling the nostalgia and decided to look up others and now I am stuck in a never ending wormhole of Potvin, Noronen, Raycroft, Skudra, Ouelette, Schwab...
EDIT: Also turns out the draft pick we sent to Pitt for Hedberg was Goligoski

Totally the players responsibility to determine playing time.
They should probably have filled him in on what lines to play, what strategies to employ and who to include in the line up too.
Actually, i kind of like that idea.
I'll start the campaign now, just so that i can claim 'first' if/when it happens.

Sedins to co-coach the Canucks in 2020. - dbot
Kind of hard to fill in the coach if you can't find him or he's sleeping in his office.
The main take-away from 30 thoughts is that teams around the league are inquiring about Canucks prospect Anton Rodin.

It's funny how some of those terrible Gillis picks are turning out to be decent after all. Soon we will see Schroeder break out in Minny and Hodgson dominate in Nashville.
In no way am I saying Gillis's strengths were scouting but Gaunce, Hutton, Horvat, Connauton are all looking good now and Grenier, Shink, Cannata, Rodin, Corrado, Cassels, Subban and Jensen all still have a chance.
If 6 guys end up being NHLer's out of 6 years will that be seen as a success? 8? 10?

Is that Gillis or his scouts that should get the recognition?
I get the sense that JB is much more involved in the scouting side of things, I feel like Gillis' attention was focused on free-agent signings and reclamation projects.
