If Scuderi were Lovejoy for the first Canuck goal people on this site would have had their pitch forks ready. Just like the unlucky goal that bounced off his skate. Nothing he could do, but many of you just enjoy hating him so much. Yes he sucks, but a lot of you blow it way out of proportion. |

The Canucks had about 5 or 6 great minutes in the 2nd period and about 7 or 8 great minutes in the 3rd. As far as I'm concerned it was mostly the Pens otherwise. |

Yes Canucks did not play very well. Pens controlled most of the game. The results were fitting. |

Sutter had his chance to make a mark on the game last night but he missed a wide open net and hit Fleury instead.

Is anyone still debating who won the Sutter trade? Congrats to Sutter for padding his stats playing with two super stars and top line ice time. He's had a good start to the season. But our third line with Bonino and Bennett has been very good. Best third line we've had since the Jordi Staal era. Every night they're either quietly good playing mistake free sound hockey, or Bonino and Bennett are flat out flying and keeping us in the game. Oh, and then there's that one guy named Eric Fehr. Have we ever had a fourth line as good as the Cullen-Fehr unit? Answer: yes we have. That line isn't nearly gritty enough and we need more shot blockers and PK specialists. F the four scoring lines model. Seriously though, I would LOVE for Dupuis to join that unit. Dupuis-Cullen-Fehr would be a dominant fourth line.
I think the reason why there's so much negativity is because the second was unwatchable. We had a good start to the first, sans Crosby, and then petered of and after the first intermition we were stagnant. We came back alive in the third though including Crosby. But staying dormant for a total of two periods isn't gonna work against good teams. Wait until we start playing divisional play and see how this team fairs. |

No question who won the trade. you got a slow third liner , we go a player we use in all situations that has helped us all year. Looking forward to the next steal.

Like I said in the last blog:
Bonino/Fehr/Clendening(combined cap hit 4.66 mill) + 2nd round pick >>> Sutter (3.3 mill this year, 4.375 after) + 3rd round pick.

Maybe I misunderstood you but when have we ever had a 4th line as good as the Cullen-Fehr line? He'll those 2 by themselves are better than any 4th line we've had in a decade at least. That line is better than just about any 4th line around the league and many nights it's better than their opponents 3rd line, they are a huge advantage for the Pens and are a major upgrade over the collection of talentless meatheads most teams employ as their 4th line.

You're looking at it very short sighted. The pens won the trade because of the long term benefits of the team. The pens got s young guy for several years and a pretty good defenseman prospect plus the room to sign fehr. Fehr is the new Sutter. He can go anywhere in the lineup. So long term the pens came away miles better. |

@jaydogg: I was being highly highly sarcastic. I just don't believe in sarcasm faunt. Since the begging of the season people had been dogging the four scoring lines model because we weren't scoring enough goals as a team when really the bottom six was producing fine and it was the top 6 that was dropping the ball. Now that it's all starting to come together I'm just being a bastard about it. |

For years we talked about lack of "secondary scoring". Now we have plenty of secondary scoring and once the top 6 get back into form the offense wont be an issue. |

Minimizing Sutters production so far because he is playing with two good wingers is a little ridiculous. He has more points than Bonino and Bennett combined or more than Crosby for that matter. Way to early to see how the trade shakes out but the continued Sutter hate is comical.

ThE best argument the Sutter defenders had on here was his preformance on the PK. I'm not gonna be a Richard and dismiss his 5 shorties and everyone was scared that threat couldn't be replaced, but Fehr already has two and we seem to get short handed chances on a game by game basis with Crosby and Malkin (why they didn't get SH time last night I don't know) which is way more than Sutter generated. From an actual own-zone SH defense standpoint I don't think we look any different than last year's solid/above average squad. We're a solid group being helped out by elite goal tending once again. But I think our PK is better overall because of the offense we've been generating short handed. Turns out I was right and our parts were replaceable. |

It's 'roll' and not "role."
I dislike Sutter as much as anyone, but it is much too early to determine who won that trade.

Didn't watch a second of that game I was sleeping I hate these west coast games. As far as DP I thought much like Rutherford. I hope it's a 1 time mistake. We all been there and I don't get the impression it will be something that happens again. |

You're viewing it as a bonino for Sutter straight up trade. That's not what it was. They also got a decent d-man that they are to stupid to use and gained the room to sign fehr. Not to mention the draft pick upgrade. It's not hard to see that's a better long term turn out for the pens than the canucks. |

Penguins quietly have won 8 of 9. Looks like the division is starting to take shape. |

And the bulk of us Pens fans are still far from happy with how the team is playing... and pretty sure its rightfully so with the offense far from where it should be.
Should that worry you guys? |

Im just saying proclaiming the trade was a win when it happened or now is short sighted regardless of who or what they got.
