Calling this year's Oilers without McDavid last year's Oilers is just demonstrating ignorance of your topic. Coaching has had more impact on this season than any one player has. As long as the defensive play and level of compete continue to improve the Oilers are going to be able to skate with any team in what is looking like a mediocre division.

No. Teams have a hard time losing their best player for months at a time if they don't have depth. The Oilers forward depth is fine. But they are still trying to figure out the defensive side of the game.

I don't know they were ever in the hunt but Leon is looking like he could be ready. 7 pts in 3 games. He is a big guy that can keep up to Hall and RNH who are both doing amazing. Connor made people around him better as well as putting the puck in the net. Leon might be just what they need to keep the team scoring while Connor is out.
