Well I don't want to come on here with a differing opinion. So I would also trade Simmonds. Would you like to share a smoothie and catch butterflies with me later on? - jmatchett383
No. I like good conversation and if you agree that's not good conversation. |

you don't think you're taking it too personally and, in doing so, kind of validating him? I know persecution complexes are coming back in style here, but I never took you for the trendy type. - BulliesPhan87
I've had a persecution complex since before you were born...how old are you again?
Sorry, it's been a rough couple of weeks, I shouldn't be venting on here. Just get pissed off that 2 people on here seem to have it out for me and, despite numerous PMs asking nicely what I did to make them mad, they will not reply to me.
It will probably happen again, though. |

I've earned well over $500K in my lifetime. I don't have $250K in my bank account. - jmatchett383
Poor analogy. Propensity to save increases at a faster rate than incremental expenses as salary increases.

Fair, I'll cease piling on now
EDIT: Also, my true age is a secret, so don't go looking for clues on this webzone as I've carefully concealed any possible hints. |

Unless it's a clear "win" for the Flyers, I wouldn't trade Simmonds as I feel he has a very good cap hit and can be a solid contributor as this team looks to become a contender in a few years. |

Yes, it is a known fact that he has many successful investments and will definitely be offered a hockey-related job. I agree. - jmatchett383
Seriously?
If he's earned over 100 million before taxes in his career, and he doesn't have a good chunk of it safely invested, then he deserves to go bankrupt. Of course he has investments. You don't need his stock portfolio to make that obvious claim. |

And I get that. I guess I watch and if he doesn't score he doesn't do much else. And is it me or does he seem to turn out of screens this year looking for tips? Do you think he might be a little gun shy since breaking his foot? |

After his signing bonus on July 1st next year he will have made $15 million with the Flyers. So it covers the exact amount he lost when he was bought out by Tampa Bay. If he has a decent Financial Planner to manage that $85 million dollar contract he signed with Tampa, he shouldn't be worried about money. I hope for everyone's sake he walks away. I'd prefer they don't but won't be upset if they buy him out to end this charade.
Correction: Math was off, he's already made more than he was owed by Tampa prior to his buy out. He will have made a total of 2 million more on July 1st, 2016. |

To be 100% honest, I haven't watched a lot of games this year (my 2-year-old thinking Disney movies are more important). So I can't say. |

I have actually taken a look at his portfolio just now: all his money seems to be invested in companies called....

Actually, those are probably some solid companies to invest in. Probably linear earnings, but safe long-term. |

I would insist another team gave us a very fair offer, then make them double it. |

It also doesn't seem reasonable that Jose Canseco would have money issues.
It also doesn't seem reasonable that Lenny Dykstra would have money issues.
It also doesn't seem reasonable that a whole host of NBA/NFL players (Iverson and TO come to mind) would have money issues.
It also doesn't seem reasonable the high-profile musicians such as TLC, David Crosby, and Wayne Newton would have money issues.
It also doesn't seem reasonable the star actors such as Brendan Fraser and Kim Basinger would have money issues.
Yet they all do despite being multi-millionaires at some point in their lives. I'm not privy to Mr. Lecavalier's bank account(s) and/or investments, so I don't know his financial situation. - jmatchett383
Sure it seems reasonable. Have you seen some of the idiotic crap they have been involved with? By all accounts VLC net worth is about 45 million. And by all accounts he hasn't been involved with stupid crap.

That makes sense, but then why didn't he retire this summer? Because he (wrongly) believes he can still play. - Feanor
I think he wanted to give it a go with a new coach. Plus he's making more this year than he will next year. "Only" gets $2.5M after the payout bonus on July 1 |

Frozen was her first love, but now it's some combo of Tangled, Shrek 2, and 101 Dalmations with the occasional Finding Nemo. But she does know that Wayne Simmonds and Claude Giroux play for the Flyers. And that "Cry Cry" plays for the Penguins (how she pronounced it when my wife said "Crosby"). |
