When the window opens for real, I want this team the best possible chance to win it, with no lingering impediments. Not 98% team strength, 100%. Margin between winning and losing is so tiny. - Tomahawk
I don't like having to play him when it's clear no one thinks a darn of his game anymore. I don't like him taking a roster spot that could go to someone else while affecting call ups. I just see this as a situation in need of an ending pronto. This isn't buying out AMac which would be a bad cap situation. This is a small potatoes thing. All the ELCs will help too.
But what if he decides not to retire his last year? That's on the table, no matter what he intended when his contract was all new and shiny and him ready for a fresh start. You'd rather $4.5 mil on the cap for two years? |

If you want it fixed ASAP, then not buying him out is the way to go. - MJL
I understand the cap concerns, but I said the situation I would like cleared up. I don't care if he's making a tiny amount on the payroll. I would like to see him, effectively, no longer a member of the team. |

I'd play him both years if it gets us better draft picks.
(caveat: not on a line w/ any kids I cared about, ofc) |

Then you reassess the situation, and if needed, buy him out in the 16/17 off season. Which will have him on the cap one less year, than buying him out in the 15/16 off season, which is still a better situation.

I'd like to see him effectively no longer a part of the team, with no cap penalty. The long term future situation is infinitely more important, than the immediate future, and any concerns about a roster space, or potential morale issues.

If a player is not a good player, a team has no reason why they should have to play him. - MJL
If you are under contract, players are hurt and we have a willing body on the roster available, I believe he should play.
I think it's funny your trying to debate/pick a fight over something I believe. For example, I believe Chris Pronger's deal should have been terminated under a number of different scenarios. When he was hurt, he was (Actually) unable to physically play hockey due to injury. On top of this, Pronger is now currently working for the league and not the Arizona Coyotes. |

If Lecavalier didn't have a NMC, or if NHL contracts weren't guaranteed, would Lecavalier be on the roster?
If the Flyers were able to trade Lecavalier, without taking it on the chin, in a reasonable deal, would he still be on the roster? |

The actual answer to those questions, is no, he wouldn't be on the roster, if the Flyers had an actual viable mechanism to remove him. |

There is no "If" Scenario. He is on the roster. Step into the reality with me, there is plenty of room. |

It is the reality, which is why they don't or shouldn't have to play him just because he is a live body on the roster. He is only on the roster because they can't remove him without paying a costly price to do so. it is part of the equation. That he can't play anymore is reality! |

Do you have a gif of a time machine that can take us to a season when the Flyers are playing well? |

No. Vinny has played the last 4 games. This is the reality. Regardless of whether or not he played well, he plays Hockey for the Philadelphia Flyers.
Chris Pronger is physically unable to play hockey. There is a difference. |

Good scouting report on phantoms one month in. Lots of injuries, lineup shuffling yet their hovering at .500. - Just5
Really good to hear that Straka is off to a strong start.

I want this stupid team to remain watchable but another top 10 pick in the draft couldn't hurt. This time hopefully a can't miss forward. |
