Granted I don't live up on top of Mount Saint Hockey with you and all the other elite pundits and fans in Montreal, but I did play the sport for 12 years and have been a kings fan for 27 years. None of this may carry any credence with you because I was born and raised in the hockey atrocity state of sunny southern California, but I assure you I have been a Kings fan longer than your dismissive, lame a$$, ignorant comment stated...

Well said.... I guess nobody is a real fan of the Minnesota Wild or the St. Louis Blues either because they haven't won yet. Oh wait, those states get snow? I guess they get a pass... I've been a fan of the Kings myself for about 22yrs now but I get poop all the time from the people of hockey buzz who know nothing about me and they think they know everything, lol. Half my family grew up in Minnesota playing hockey, but I still hear it from moronic fans. Sorry I wasn't born before '88 to watch hockey in the '40s when 6 teams existed.

Have to agree. I live in a hockey mecca and can tell you first hand, it breeds arrogance. For me, it doesn't matter where you're from or currently residing. If you love a sport, that's all that matters. Every type of sport is meant for people to enjoy, regardless.

From a distant perspective, hockey was alive and strong in LA way back in the days of Marcel Dionne, 70's and 80's. I remember those games as a kid and LA had a lot of loyal fans. I get the impression that people who feel southern markets don't have a strong fan base...have never even travelled there. For the people who say there might be a lot of wagon-jumpers on the Kings success, those types of fans are in every market. I've seen it first hand.

At the end of the day, nobody can take away your desire to cheer for whatever sport and team you want. Tell them to keep their opinions to themselves.

To me, there is no other sport. In So Cal, the very first sport you are introduced to is soccer. every kid at the age of 5 plays in AYSO leagues because all their school friends are doing it and it's a cheap sport to participate in. So growing up it was soccer, skateboarding, BMX, the beach, girls and playing drums, for me at least. I never knew hockey existed. When I turned 16 I saw my best friends little brother come in the house with rollerblades on, a mylec hockey stick and a kings jersey on. Naturally I asked what the F he was doing. He popped in a VHS of a hockey hits compilation and one with all goals and saves. My jaw was on the floor after watching this thing I had never seen before. Then told me all about Wayne Gretzky and that the Kings were going to get him soon and showed me a Gretzky highlight reel. I got myself a pair of blades and they never came off my feet for the first 3 months, I would sit at the dinner table with them on and then go right back out and skate. Street hockey was my gateway drug. I was forced to play high school basketball due to my size back then, but after hockey was in my veins I quit JV basketball, sold my drums and bought a full set of Ice gear. I ditched class after 3rd period for 2 weeks straight to go to the rink and learn how to stop. I was consumed by Roller hockey and Ice hockey. It was weird how fast I picked up the sport and how good I got in such a short period of time, especially with such a late start in life. It wasn't until about 10 years ago I found out my dads side of the family from his great grandfathers generation and back were all from Nova Scotia. I kind of wonder what would have happened had my parents never moved to California and stayed in Maine or Ohio.

Like I said to start this whole boring story, IMO, hockey is the only true sport, and I only keep a loose track of other sports so I can be able to talk with my friends.

Yeah, I sorta grew up with the sport, even though I was born in SoCal. Like I stated before, half my family grew up in the "State of Hockey". I Started watching hockey and the Kings when I was 6 in the mid '90s. So for these people who come on here talking poop and thinking they know everything about everyone just because their whole country likes hockey is just stupid. Same goes for people who live in the states with ice and snow. And for whatever reason the people in SJ and ANA who say most Kings fans never watched hockey until 2012 is the dumbest comments anyone can make. They of all people should know the Kings had a lot of fans prior to their cups. Did we gain fans because it, absolutely. Did LA get a huge boost from Gretzky, no question about it. Only an idiot would deny that.

All of my negativity and team deprecation comes from those dark years in the mid 90's to 2009

Where's Jagr in the Devils jersey?
- Crushers68

This picture was taken years ago at the Saddledome in Calgary. Another reason you have to love Calgarians!!! You can youtube the video when they saluted him from the stands in the pre game skate... The smile on Jagr's face is priceless!!

We didn't run him out of town you moron... He said he didn't want to go through the rebuild process and considering where we were at I can't blame him. He wanted to play for a cup contender and so to Pittsburg he went. He is still much beloved in Cowtown, and if you actually go to a Flames home game you'll see that half the jersey's in the Dome are still #12's... So yeah, we'll trade Hudler for Iggy Colorado, no question

Not under any false pretenses about the Islanders actually being interested in him. But I'd happily take him on this roster.

Sorry I didn't remember if Calgary were being cheap-o's and not pay the man or he whined his way to a contender.

Either way, his unceremonious exit was a sad pock mark on a great - albeit mostly wasted career in Calgary - and a once somewhat decent franchise.

Iggy didn't want out of Calgary. Jay Feester asked to trade him so we could get a valuable return for him before he regressed. He wanted to go to a contender and that's how it worked out.

He is easily worth more than Pittsburgh paid. A 1st rd pick or two of them. Plus a solid young player plus a prospect. Jarome Iginla -- not Jerome -- can play top line minutes and produce at a high level. He would fit in well with LA. He has another year at a friendly hit. That price gets higher if Colorado retains salary.

Just give Iggy to the Habs. As compensation for the "Raping of '95". Quick before the 20 year statute of limitations expires.

Come on EK, hasn't anything changed around here in the last 5 years?.....who are they giving up? Galchenyuk? no, Eller right? along with Price now that he's damaged an of curse Tinordi as a throw in. man you're a (frank)tard EK
