Sabres win and people complain.
Moulson has 4 goals but he's apparently terrible. Even though the team is still 8 million below the cap, his contract makes him a pariah. The team has just started gelling offensively and we have players making big plays at big times. But apparently the offense sucks.
Pysyk and McCabe have both taken a big step and look as good if not better than anyone could have hoped but the defense stinks. Not to mention Bogo is still out and, like him or not, is better than Gorges and will bump him down. But apparently the defense sucks.
Ullmark has been unexpectedly above average and when Lehner comes back could either see a good amount of starts in the AHL or be a full time backup, either way would be good for him. But apparently the goaltending sucks.
The team is 6-8 and 3 points out of 8th and has gone 5-5 in its last 10 in a year where we had low expectations, and finally has a system that they look like they're buying into. But apparently the team and the coaching sucks.
The season has just begun and it's been fun so far. You don't have to love every player and every move but just celebrate a win, just for one day. For (frank)s sake.

Or some people could not like Matt Moulson
I have never liked him, and although this team is fine with the cap, and his contract wont hurt us. Some people are allowed not to like him. - Mentalorgasm5
Last year it was ok to hate everyone. This year we are 6-8 and we are supposed to love every player |

Fair enough but how much conversation can you really have about how great eichel is? A couple of "agreed" posts then *crickets* - Sabresfan-365
I have constantly wondered how much more conversation could be had about signings and trades like Gorges, Gionta, & Moulson, and yet that horse continues to be beaten beyond death. |

As early as next year, Matt Moulson will be to the Sabres as Vincent Lecavalier is to the Flyers. |

The amount of negativity involved in sports is astounding, and in life.
That is an overall comment and not directed at you or others. |

Ideally, his contract would be up in the 2017-2018 season like Gorges.
Unfortunately that is not the case, but it is also not something worth going nuts over...yet. |

It's understandable for the city of Buffalo.
This team has an excellent young core.
Eichel looks like a superstar
O'Reilly looks great
Ristolainen looks great
Reinhart looks decent
I think it's ok to still discuss what's lacking or what needs improvement. We are rebuilding to eventually win cups, not just be fun to watch |

Incorrect sir as it pertains to what I meant, which is how many find the one cloud in an otherwise sunny sky to focus on way, way too much of the time. |

Sometimes that cloud is very big and crates an very large overcast.
OK, I don't even know what I am talking about anymore. Just always wanted to be on the debate team. |

I agree, he wont have a position, we are just lucky enough that his cap wont hurt else. His contract will end, right when the sabres will start needing the money. But for those final 2 years of his contract, he will not have a spot on the top 6 imo, and he really cannot fill the roles of a 3rd or 4th line player. |

Fine , but quit whining like him and his contract are the demise of the franchise.

Not the demise, but really could be a problem.
You made a good point about the cap going up. But this is a list of players who will get raises before his contract is up. Not including ROR who is the highest paid:
Kane
Ennis (contract is up the same year)
Foligino
Eichel
Reinhart
Girgs
Larsson
Pysyk
McCabe
Risto
Ullmark |

I think the crosshairs are there because the decline has been noticeable (from when we first got him) and the contract has people (including me) a little worried. - Sabresfan-365
Anyone who expected numbers even close to those he put up with Tavares had some serious delusions. He had a bad year last year, but who had a "good" year other than Girgensons, and to a lesser extent Ennis? Moulson is a player who needs talent around him to perform well. And he's no spring chicken anymore. Statistically speaking a players best year is around 24 years of age, not saying it's all down hill from there, but usually, it doesn't get significantly better. Hind sight is always 20/20, but there was no ROR, Eichel, Kane on this team when we signed him. You have to make the deal that's in front of you. Not what may be in 2 years. |
