You think they miss RO'R? He is a pretty damn good player, kind of glue guy that held things together. Value wise to their team, he reminds me of #14 on the Flyers... in a way. - Marc D
Absolutely they do. Over the summer some guys here were ripping the ROR contract. I said it was a slightly overpay but exactly what you would expect given Calgary's ridiculously high over sheet. And that he is a legit 2C/1W type two way player. I think his game is awesome. People see it now. ROR is a slightly worse defensive Couturier with more offense.
But the Avs, even going back to when they were the second best team in the Western Conference 3 seasons ago in Roy's heralded rookie coaching year, they were the second highest NHL team in shot percentage while being 25th in Corsi For%. They have always been like this. As is so in hockey, shooting percentage is unreliable. Look at any individual -- it bounces around year to year. Amount of shots is more reliable. I can't see how Roy isn't chiefly to blame. Every year they are bottom in league in possession, held up by phenomenally talented players. This is more the team they are than their overperformance in 13-14. Writing was on the wall. |

I was actually very angry watching that game. I don't really follow the Eagles that closely but I still root for them when I can watch. They have trouble making plays to put a team away. Notable exception is that rookie linebacker they have, he is amazing.
When they called Maxwell for pass interference twice I was yelling at the TV. I haven't done that this year with the Flyers, so was surprised that the Eagles were able to get me all riled up. - Marc D
Yeah those 2 late penalties almost had me throwing the remote through the TV screen!
Hicks, the young LB, is a beast. But they still need to upgrade the secondary and find some receivers that can actually catch a football.

They also benefited from Varlamov having a career year in goal. He put up Hasek like numbers for much of that season. I actually look forward to watching that pompous blowhard Roy eventually being fired by his former teammate. I think he is one of the worst coaches in the league.

I thought the O line did really well considering how patched up and out of position they were.
The running backs looked great for most of the game. |

That too. It was a perfect year to do what they did. I think Roy is on the tier of Randy Carlyle coaches. Pompous blow hard is an apt descriptor. But since he's St Patrick they'll never fire him |

Yup, they were solid, and Bradford had his best all around game of the season. I thought that the D line wasn't as strong against the run as usual, but they got good pressure on Cassell.

Don't kid yourself. Hell the Flyers fired Bobby Clarke in 1990. Once you are off the ice, things change. He may be beloved in Denver, but if he goes on to miss the playoffs 3 or 4 years running, he'll be toast.

To be fair, the Cowboys's offensively line is damn good. And McFadden is having a season where he's not injured. They got burned more by Beasley than anyone |

Lane Johnson doe - Nucker101
He did a great job last night, but they really need to find both another quality tackle and guard prior to next season. Jason Peters is coming to the end of his magnificent career.

True, they are still having issues with coverage and could still use more talent in the secondary.

Lol, no. Pretty sure their secondary was #3 in the NFL before last night. Jenkins had a bad game which is uncharacteristic of him. He was the one burned by Beasley most of the night. |

You're probably right. But then the GM (idk if he's even called GM;they have a weird front office structure) is Joe Sakic. That's a mess. I actually did some reading just now and Roy is a senior VP of operations, and he may very well share some personnel duties as a de facto co-GM. What a poopshow. We should be glad we have a GM who, while a bit of a nepotism hire was equally hired based on merit. He worked for a long time in front offices and as assistant GM. He sees hockey as it is today and in the future, not 5-10 years ago. Long live the reign of Hexy! |

I think the coverage issues are more related to their scheme and pressure on the QB. The Eagles arent getting to the QB like they could or should be. They also seem to let the underneath stuff go most of the time. Eagles are below average in QB hurries and sacks, which is kind of crazy considering how good their front 7 is/should be |

Having Lane look good last night at LT is huge. Like you say, Peters is coming to the end of his career. Knowing that Lane will be able to step in to take his place is beyond huge for the offense going forward. The Eagles biggest need right now is building O line depth imo. I'm pretty confident that will get done in the off season via the draft. |

Vinny the Teammate Slayer should be introduced to no one. He needs to sit in a corner. He's a danger to others. |

RJ had a maintenance day due to a shot block he took at Winnipeg. Vinny drew in as the third line RW today on Gagner-Schenn line....that worked out well in the past. Dear lord. Heal RJ, heal! |

All kidding aside, they are better off dressing 7 D than they are in putting Vinny in the lineup at this point. He is just a dumpster fire.

You know Haks doesn't want to play him; Hexy feels the same. But he can't do anything until someone gets traded.
I hope Medvedev is healthy and slots in for Manning too tomorrow. |

No choice really. So long as Medvedev is healthy, I can't see him starting though. Hexy wants to let Ghost marinate a little longer too it looks like. |

If they don't feel the kids are ready yet, they have little choice due to cap constraints. Hopefully Medvedev is back in the lineup soon and Manning can be the 7th man.
