Not unless Dupuis goes on season ending LTIR and Carolina eats half of the cap hit.

As a pens fan... In all honesty.... There's no way they can land Eric staal... Even if dupuis goes on LTIR or retires.... They still don't have cap space.... Nor the assets to even be in contention for Eric... They don't even have a first round pick this year... Which would be mandatory for any deal for Eric staal

How could Pitt land e staal.... don't they already have an ungodly amount of money invested in 4 or 5 players?

Seriously. What do the Penguins have to offer in terms of futures at this point? What could they possibly give up?

The Hainsey/Liles to Boston thing makes sense, though. Neither of them are actually needed in Raleigh.

The other thing is that the Canes would want forward prospects as the D cupboard is overflowing. Unless they're trading for current roster players (possible) I don't really see a deal here.

Oh the irony. Like when Rob Niedermayer finally ended up on the Devils.

Staal would be a way better 3rd line center than Bonino

Bonino also costs 1/8th the contract.

How is this even a "rumor"? Pens do not have IR room... Dupuis didn't go on IR. They have 3 bottom six centers for this season... Staal's cap hit is over 2 mil more then Dupuis on IR anyway... and what assets do the Pens have left? A first rounder in the next decade?

EK level 20 "rumor" at best.

Staal would slot in on the wing with Pens. However, they just don't have the pieces to get him. They would need to send roster players the other way. I just don't see it happening unless it's someone like Hornqvist.

EK. Impose a word wrap on dumb poop that's too long for the box. It's really not hard. You run a website.

I am hearing the Bruins are looking EVERYWHERE for D help, and the latest team they have had discussions with is Carolina....A source tells me this isn't "a top four young D-man, but rather some depth and experience..."

except the Bruins have Seidenberg, Mcquaid, Irwin who could all fill out the bottom pairing.... they need some legitimate top 4 help. they have a log jam of guys fighting for the 5/6/7th spots on the defense roster.... time to bring someone in to shake things up for the 2,3,4 spots.

I don't usually complain about rumors as this is an entertainment site and I come here to see all rumors, possible and rediculous alike, but seriously Eklund? For Pittsburgh to make this work they would have to force Carolina to eat half of his salary while taking on some, give up a premium of assets (top prospect and a 1st) and be fully happy to let him walk at season's end (unless they trade Crosby or Malkin which ain't happening).

Would be cool to see the Pens go all in this year but I doubt this is even possible.

I can see all of the other teams in on Staal, if he becomes available. It's going to cost an arm and a leg, which Pits don't have...
