Pierre LeBrun is a tool. Somehow he dropped the Sabres one slot in his power rankings to 22 this week. Huh? |

Chad Johnson was the difference tonight. Tampa was dangerous. Especially in the third. |

He was VERY good, as was, of course Jack. Risto looked strong as well. Moulson however, did not.
McCabe quietly developing nicely too. |

That is a great question.
Does the bridge handcuff you with all of the upcoming contracts?
Or does a long term lockup let you know where you are in regards to everyone else?
Maybe five for five? A Keith or Hedman type deal? |

The issue there is you don't want a contract that takes him directly to early UFA status.
And at the rate he is scoring i wonder if the long term option will be much of a bargain.

So...try to sign him to Keith's deal?
Not sure exactly what that was, but I think it is long term for a little above five.
Cap circumvention is always an option. |

Yeah, he's not getting the points like we've seen from him in the past, but he's doing all the right things, so it'll come for him at some point. You can see he's comfortable with what Byslma expects at this point. |

You only long term if he's giving you the bargain for the longer term. If he's gonna want big money now there is way more benefit in a bridge. |

Can't do that deal anymore though.

The other benefit (or lesser evil) would be that if you bridge him his contract expires same time as kane and eichel.
A lot like the situation Tampa's in. |

The salary part doesn't need to change much, the total amount and the years can be the same. The cap hit would be the same either way. |

The direction of the team might make it appealing as to what he wants to do. Also knowing his place on the team. |

If Subban took a bridge, Risto can take a bridge. |
|
|
|
Give Ristolainen a contract similar to Oscar Klefbom's. He may want a bit more in the money department though. If we can get him locked down long term for 4-5 mil it'll be perfect. |

Bridge deal ultimately cost the habs around 3 mil in cap space (maybe more) over the next 6 or so years. |

Yeah, but do you want to pay Risto 9 million after that with all of the forwards coming up?
Edit: I am confused. 365 might be learning me. |

That's what i was hoping for this off season. Klefbom hadn't accomplished too much at the NHL level but oilers brass saw enough to feel comfortable giving him that deal. It looks like a steal already.
It's also worth pointing out that he's basically got all the leverage here. |

Yeah I don't know. Glad I don't have to make that decision. I just feel so many big contract hand outs in Buffalo have gone bad. |
