I think the value of Reinhart is higher because he has a higher floor. You pretty much know he's going to be a good player, but there are probably several guys below him with higher ceilings.

I just think it's risky to trade that much for the guy. He needs to become a very good player for that trade to work out.

- PhillySportsGuy

Fair points. And I'm not locked into him either. But they are going to have to take a gamble, IMO, to bring in someone elite. I'm more worried that they think a fringe move or two changes the dynamics of this team. They need to go big or go home - not in quantity of trades but they need at least one to bring in a high-quality player.

Couturier is probably one of the only guys on the team that if he doesn't score he still brings other attributes to the team. Yes. He needs to score more but I think he is a core player moving forward.

I generally agree. Still think he and Laughton are best suited to 3C role. I'd look to trade Laughton first tho.

My thought as well. His entire experience is coaching kids between the ages of 18-23. While I certainly am puzzled at his silence and lack of any emotion on the bench, I'm not going to write him off for not winning with this bunch of crap.

Now if 2 years from now, the kids aren't developing and they are treading water or going backwards, I'm gonna be pissed.

I think this is his M.O.

Just like in college, he isn't going to be berating players in public in front of 19,000 people and a TV audience.

Now if it turns out he isn't melting the paint off the walls in the locker room during intermission than maybe I will take issue with it, but I'm not too concerned with his demeanor on the bench

I'm in the Couts is a 3rd line center camp, ala Jordan Staal. Unfortunately, the Flyers don't have a Malkin on the team, in the pipeline, or on the horizon.

This team is a lot less likable without Hartnell
- PhillySportsGuy

Remember when we had Hartsy, Briere, Kimmo, and Jagr? Lethal doses of personality up in there.

That is fine but let's not say he is a good offensive player. He is average and that is all.
- ClaudeFather
I think people mistake what couturier is. He is a two way 2nx line center. Probably produces in 40 to 50 point range. Plays good defense. Kills penalties. That is what my feeling of couturier is.

He had a big hit in 11+ minutes last night, so Vinny is just getting warmed up and about to bring it.

Of course, it's tough to come down too hard on VLC when the rest of the forwards are so offensively horrible. Or horrible offensively. Take your pick.

Agreed, I think he can be a very good 3C on a contending team.

Probably. Richards also had some time on top PP at point which helped too.

That's fine and I'm cool with that. But, you can still show some emotion once in a while without throwing your players under the bus. Snap at a ref, curse out loud...show that you have a pulse.

Pretty much, but on a truly top team, he slots better as the 3C.

So Streit says the goal scored 57 seconds into the game "stunned" them. Ok, but you have 59:03 left to still play. IT WASN'T SUDDEN DEATH.

My word this team is feeble if that stuns them that much.

We root for a poor team that doesn't compete. It's been the same issue going on a few years now. Poorly constructed forward group with a bad group of defenders in general. Unfortunately we have a horrible cap situation and have to hold onto the hope that our prospects will pan out. I'm not currently optimistic about the near future for the flyers unless Hextall can make some moves to atleast make our forward group a more complete group.

I wouldn't advocate making a big move now. I would look to trade Streit and some of the lesser pieces at the deadline then do something in the offseason. There is just so much uncertainty for this team this coming offseason.

That's what I think he is too. But if that is your 2nd line production, and Laughton is anchoring your 3rd line with production that tops out in the 30-40 range, you'll continue to have a team that will struggle offensively.

Everyone jumps on me when I say I want a 2nd line center that could score 60-70 points because they focus on the upper end and then compare those totals to others in the league. My argument is about potential. Did Briere score 60-70 every year? No. But he could in any year.

Maybe Couturier and Laughton could score 50 and 40 respectively, which is not bad at all. But they could easily top out at 35 and 25 in any year too. That's not gonna get it done in my book.

Got to stop the line naming. Couturier almost always will match against top lines. The other teams top line is probably going to play alot. So couturier is going to probably play a lot. Add in pk. Other then maybe a couple teams couturier is going to see probably more minutes then the so called 2c even if he was on another team due to his roll.

Pathetic.
A goal like that shouldn't stun a professional hockey team. It should piss them off!!

I hear ya. I just want somebody with more all around speed and offensive skill to center one of our top 3 lines.

Hexy should invest in stun guns
