Won't be the last time................have patience on this ride - ob18
Patience? No one thought this team would be good, but routinely going through the motions, playing with zero aggression, heart, guts, or urgency is unacceptable.
Voracek has done poop in 15 games. When is the "small sample" over? 8.2 million starting next year, better not be yet another (frank)ing albatross. |

I understand his plan, and that his hands are tied, and the previous guy spent $30 when he only had $10 in his pocket.
I'm just not one for throwing games, & seasons away. |

lack of jump, lack of energy, lack of puck support, and lack of good coaching...this team has no answer for when they get behind....there is no adjustment ...It seems as tho when there game plan doesn't work they look like deer in the headlights. I never like to put all the blame on the coach but Hasktol was a mistake, i said it when he was hired, i still believe it now, a proper NHL coach might actually make this team look like they belong on the ice( maybe not win). When you are used to coaching 2 games a week with 3 or 4 days in between shifting to 4 games a week is a huge adjustment....he should have gotten his feet wet in the AHL 1st to get him accustomed to the pace...but right now the team is a ship with out an admiral and our captain has no one to turn to..... i don't see this getting any better for a long time not until someone realizes this team need a rebuild. We have a solid goal tending duo, we have 2 good forwards in Giroux and Jake, this can be the base... they need to be blown up and rebuilt...MDZ is not the answer Streit is not the answer...Gudas hits great but he is not the answer...we have good defenders in the pipe line that will make this team better, unfortunately we are not going to see them for a least a year maybe 2....we need to get rid of some dead weight we need to shed some salary and stock pile draft picks...easier said than done |

Unrelated, Nuevy looked bad for the first time this year. - coffee junkie
He was OK. First goal was a bad one but also bad luck. If his left leg had been vertical against the post rather than horizontal, it's just a routine save on a flubbed side-angle shot. Even in RVH, the post was mostly covered. There was literally a coin-slot like space that could only be "found" by a puck on its edge moving at the exact angle it was.
You could see that same play, played the same way by the goalie, a thousand more times and the puck might not go in even once.
The other three goals were on poor coverage, two bounces that went the Avs' way (puck barely held in at the point, rebound went off to the side but directly to Duchene's stick), and a second-chance effort in front.
Not Neuvirth's best night overall -- he had a few that didn't go in where he was almost handcuffed, and puck handling will never be his strong suit -- but he wasn't bad. Flyers were a little fortunate to get to the first intermission trailing 1-0 and should have been ready to play in the second period. Instead, they blinked and it was 3-0 before they decided to compete (for a few shifts).

I really don't get the outrage. This team was gonna suck. Everybody knew it. Yet each time they lose a game, it's the end of the world all over again. This must be what life as a Leafs fan feels like, lol.

Hextall actually can make moves. There is no need in hanging on to Read, Schenn, Simmonds, etc., etc. This is the same group that cant get it done. Cant get up for games. Consistently lacks heart. Hexy can make deals with quite a few players that have trade value and make the team better..... Why wait for the propects when the "core" isnt good enough anyways? Its a bad mix of forwards and the defense is atrocious. |

Great comment! I think they need more swagger (i.e. Pronger, Jagar, even Emery). The problem is that you do NOT want to trade away youth to get it. And you want to trade for youth if possible with the longer term plan of this team. Buff or Phenuef would be obvious canadates for swagger but not youth and would cost youth. I think you look for a Matt Read for Merchant type trade. Not that trade exactly but something minor-ish, swapping mid age guy for mid age guy where confidence is coming back. You still suck this year but hope the effort is better, currently the effort is inexcusable. - coffee junkie
Buff, yes he would give you swagger.. Dion... No. He brings you a big contract and is no leader. I like your idea of a Read for Marchant type. I know Roussel is a bit of a douche but that is the type of player we could use. Not to mention 5 NHL calibre Dman and a couple of snipers |

Bill, sometimes your clear honesty is almost too kind.
This team looks like it is about to come apart at the seams. It reminds me too much of the team just before Hitch was fired.
And frankly, what is it with this organization and being flat after a road trip? How is it that other teams don't have this issue? How is it that being flat after a road trip is acceptable? What do the other teams do?
How much is the Vinny L situation festering behind the doors? How can players respect a coach/management when they call for certain commitment and then bench a decorated veteran who came to camp clearly showing he had made that commitment? How can they justify RJ Umberger even being on the roster?
Has Hextall reached paralysis by analysis? There is a point at which you have to do something just to see if you can narrow down the issue. That point was last week. |

The current state of the Flyers is probably going to give Mr. Snider a heart attack. |

I dont think youll see anything till the trade deadline on the move part. The value will be higher. Streit will garner a 1st and luke might get us something like a mid round pick and who knows if umberger keeps playing like he has somebody might just take him. |

I have been saying that for a few games. Effort is one thing. I want production for that contract. 60M plus=0 goals=

Not enough forward talent when it comes to scoring goals..their is no point in arguing the merits of Couturier or B Schenn as secondary players..both do things well and both struggle at other things.. I would be okay in moving either or both if it makes the team better. Im not interested in trading either just for the sake of making a trade to change it up. I feel you do that with other players.
Not enough speed throughout lineup and their is literally nothing abrasive about playing against the Flyers.
We know the d was going to be meh for this season with the hope of the prospects coming 1 this year maybe and more over the next few years. TBH..it's not the defense that is killing this team right now its the offense because you still need to score at least 1 goal to win.
I dont think anyone expected Voracek would be as useless as he has been. Same with Simmonds and those two are killing the team.
I havent figured out yet why people are pointing to Giroux and saying he isnt a leader..You could have Messier as captain of this team and its not changing any of the above.
The Flyers need talent..They need it desperately on offense and its easier to see it coming on defense. - opeth_pa

Giroux didnt score until Nov. 16th the other year and wound up with 86 pts and a hart trophy nomination and a playoff berth.......either way......these slow starts plague this team and its unacceptable. |

Fire sale. Keep a handful and the rest are expendable. I would keep Giroux, Voracek, Couturier, Mason and Neuvirth. Trade the rest. I like Simmonds but if he can get you a speedy winger with a good shot back ?? Pull the trigger. |
